Been following your build on drive2 and of interest is the work you did to strengthen the automatic transmission. It would be great if you could provide a step by step break down for the transmission build when you did the 10 sec pass, if in-depth detail of the build for 9.5 sec pass, could be giving that would also be great. A contrast with Monster's recommendations and your experience could show how much developmental changes there has been since then.

Hi.
The transmission upgrade was done as follows:
New set of Borg Warner friction plates.
Brand new re-styled planetary gears.
Modified hydraulic channels and solenoids -so called shift kit.
Increases hydraulic pressure - physically and in ECU.
Minimized next gear switch time in ECU.
Extended next gear switch RPM in ECU.
That is pretty much it...
As far as the rest of the build goes it is quite simple:
2.4 4g64 with stock 100mm crank shaft
Manley 156 mm rods
Manley 87 mm pistons
Siruda 1.7 mm head gasket
Ported head with 1mm oversized valves.
GSC power division R2 camshafts
Custom age ARP head studs
ETS exhaust manifold
Skunk2 intake manifold and 68mm throttle body
HKS type r intercooler and piping
Id1700 fuel injectors
Fuel lab pressure regulator
Aeromotive fuel rail
AN8 fuel line and AN6 return line
Aluminium custom fuel tank 6 gallons
2 each 450L Walbro fuel pumps with Radium fuel pump station and Radium 6mcr fuel filter
Mamba gtx3584 turbo 750 hp - 2.7 Bar boost
2 each 38mm Turbosmart external wastegates.
75hp shot NX nitrous.
SSS Performance CDI 4 channels ignition
NGK spark plugs 10
Dixcell brake rotors
Project mu brake pads
16 inch lightweight CCR rims
Hoosier slicks
HKS F-con 3.24
HKS AFK 2.0
E67 fuel ( 33 precent is BP import race gas and 67 percent is ethanol - all by volume)

Hello George
A few more questions as we try to understand the finer details:
Hi.
The transmission upgrade was done as follows:
New set of Borg Warner friction plates.
We have a source for friction plate but are the stock steel disc used with this upgraded friction plates?
Brand new re-styled planetary gears.
Would that be the 4 sun planetary gears from Hyundai/KIA transmission?
Modified hydraulic channels and solenoids -so called shift kit.
Can you share how the shift kit is done and/or who does them?
Increases hydraulic pressure - physically and in ECU.
The manual hydraulic pressure increase initially was 4 turns ccw(counter clockwise) on the valve body regulator equaling 20psi. Is this still the case here or has that changed. The changes ecu wise, is there a recommended setting and/or Patch?
Minimized next gear switch time in ECU.
Extended next gear switch RPM in ECU.
Have you considered running the 3.684 FD from the VR4 transmission?
Have you found what failed on the box during the 2-3 shift?
What is your cooling set up n the transmission?
Thanks in advance for sharing.

Hi Georg,

Amazing build !

I have an EUDM Outlander Turbo with 2.3 stroker, 280 cams, 9.5 CR and a small FP Green style EVO9 modded turbo.

I'm really interested by your fueling configuration. Do you use the Radium double pump hanger for EVO 8-9 ? Is it bolt-on ?

Thanks !

Sorry, i missed your questions...
Yes, I tried VR4 FD and removed it - too much tire slippage...
I had several transmission fails and every time it is something new. I believe we have came to the physical limit for that transmission.
Cooling set up id very simple - still using stock oil cooler. There is an electric fan from Japanese moto engine behind it but it's turned on after each pass...
