SCCA SoloII San Diego National Tour - Evo Results
Evos did well at the 2nd national tour event in San Diego. With 9 entrants, Navid K. repeated his win in ESP from last weekend's ProSolo in his RS. Bret Norgard shook some rust off from not driving for 9 months, to take the 3rd place trophy in ESP. ChrisW fought alignment problems, but was fast in spots in his nicely built Evo.
In the 11 entrant STU class, after an exerting tire change in impound right before, I had a so-so finish, sitting in 2nd the first day. The final day, a NASCAR pit crew tire change was performed - thanks ChriwW! I drove well but still came in 2nd by .07sec to a STi. Most of the 5 BMWs E36 M3s (some had the new Falken 615s) were having problems, finishing about a sec back. I believe for the first time STU was finally faster than STX and STS, driven by national champs Josh Sortor and Ken Motinishi receptively.
In AS Dan and Nancy Maloney debuted their new very stock MR, Dan coming in 4th of 24. I think Dana Lucas and Judy Murray would have been in the trophy spots if not for cone trouble.
Pics to come, also we has some cool footage from a roof mounted ChaseCam.

Man I could not keep the car behind me...
but it was entertaining having a lot of corner entry oversteer.... what fun...
I really can't complain, it was my first run at San Deigo. Now that I have an idea of what I need for a setup, I should do better next year.
I liked the course a lot better on Sunday, it seemed to flow a lot better.
SS RX7 r2, good seeing you again, hope to see you at Atwater next month.
