If you're referring to the Nov SCC mag, it's out. I read the story a couple of days ago, although the inside story would be much better, I'm sure.

Loud boom was the smallest problem, big slide in own oil while a major amount of fire burner brightly was the big problem, it requires finesse to turn the source of the fire off, which is the factory key on an EVO still equipped with a steering wheel lock.

My choice was to regain control or put the source of the fire out, I chose to put the fire out then sort out the control issues...of course all this is in a car with no roll cage using the stock seat belt.

I will tell the whole story after I read what is in print.

All I know from the article is: loud boom, fireball, suspected oil pump failure, $hit all over the track.

What a total bummer, too, since the car was leading the competition by a mile. It's definitely making me rethink my approach to building up my car.

sorry to get OT. Might wanna start a new thread on this one.

People underestimate how much driving talent it takes to not instantly go off of the race track when the crankshaft hits the ground...still have one of the main studs that was picked up off of the race track sitting on my desk.

I don't like being on fire, ever!

Kent now has 20 consecutive wins in SCCA competition, and has lowered the lap records at Thunderhill and Infineon this season. Some weekends we have run as many as 4 30 minute races, so much for an Evos fast but fragile reputation.

We have double entered our Evo in both ITE (tub based DOT tired cars with unlimited mods, must conform to the SCCA GCR for safety) and also Super Production, (tub or tube based slick tired cars with unlimited mods, must conform to the SCCA GCR for safety)

Currently we lead the point standings in _both_ classes, while running the car only on DOT tires, despite slicks being allowed in SP.

Please use 'save target as'
