Evoclub.gr @ NÜRBURGRING - WISH WE COULD GO!
http://www.evoclub.gr/phpBB/portal.php
In the middle of the page you can see an aerial shot of the track at NÜRBURGRING...how cool would it be if we could go (USA)?...Gives me chills just thinking about it.
From reading some of the posts on Evoclub.gr, the debate is how to get there from Greece (roughly about 750mi.); the options are train, boat, or actually drive the distance. In addition, there are logistical issues like tires, miscellaneous parts that may be needed, place to stay etc. It is def. not for anyone that is not, a least, partially loaded with $$$; for reference, a 25 lap "ticket" costs 305 EUROS (about $370)...not cheap...at least for me.
This is obviously something that would be a nightmare for the U.S. side to organize, not to mention all the $$$ involved...but it IS nice to see that there are people that are JUST as crazy as us (at least in reference to the Evo) and are willing to cough-up their salary for a month or two (depending on the details) in order to go drive at that unbelievable track.
You can also go to the NÜRBURGRING website (which can also be translated into English) http://www.nuerburgring.de/home/index.html?L=1
...<sigh>...maybe one day...

If it weren't for the cost of transporting me and my EVO (or renting one) from Los Angeles to Germany, I'd gladly pay $370 for 25 laps. Twice. That price is for running the 8 mile + (20 km) road course, not the smaller race track. I have to drive the Nordschleife before I die.

I think the long track is over 12 miles long. Considering the cost, 25 laps is atleast 300 miles of driving. I think the $370 price you quoted is awesome. I figure you'd have to fill up the gas tank(evo's) atleast 2 times to do the 25 laps while driving hard. It would probably be wise to have a co driver with a map and some speed quotes just so you would know what's coming up ahead. It's kind of difficult to remember every turn in such a long map. Have you guys played GT4, the map is sick because of it's length.

Man, I dream about doing some real laps at the Nurburgring. I am pretty sad, because I've been doing comparison tests on Forza between different stock cars I've been considering to buy this summer. So far I've gotten my best lap time out of the Lotus Elise, but the Evo is WAY easier to drive around the 'Ring.
Needless to say, once I really get there I think the real course will be like second nature to me. I can't wait to try that one REALLY banked hairpin. That one looks like a ton of fun....
