stupidest thing i ever heard for a comeback.....all those other sports you named besides tennis, wich sucks with nascar, have about 10000 different variables that happen during a game........
nascar/tennis are the two worst things to watch on TV for sports

If anyone has ever been to a race, it's not for broke hoosiers, tickets are hundreds of dollars and everything else is 10x more expensive then your local sporting event. And they still seat hundreds of thousands on benches withont seat backs. It's genious. If it were so easy to make 4 lefts everybody would be doing it.

many people are making this NASCAR shiet sound very intricate and interesting....How about we put 45 F1 cars on a NASCAR track in their F1 cars and let's see how many F1 fans will still wach them race....(or should I say let's put 45 F1 drivers in a NASCAR and see how many F1 fans will still wacth)......I know I wouldn't.......and the gap will still be about 3 seconds down to 30th place and they will be going 300mph around until the G-forces suck their brains out of their helmet and everyone crashes......what a cool concept.......it's kinda like driving drunk in a bumper car....

Stupid? Of course there couldnt possibly be 10,000 variables on a 1.5mile track with 45 cars going 200mph.

NASCAR is where the money is? Dude...Schumacher by himself makes more money than the entire NASCAR grid......

I understand your passion about NASCAR but your overdoing it....and Gordon was not within .2 secs of Montoya's time.....it would take him years(maybe not years) to be that quick...

No, I personally will take the several large houses, a couple of Ferrari's, a model for a girlfriend, and my own jet. Tell me I'm ghey for choosing that.
I was at the trading paint thing with Jeff Gordon when he drove Montoya's Williams and in 10 laps Jeff was within .2 of Montoya's times. The Williams guys said no one has ever gotten that close that quickly, No one. That's closer than the Minardi's get and closer than the Toyotas usually get. So, I guess Ralf Schumacher isn't a good driver either by that rational.
Yeah, the race of Champions was rigged. That's why the American drivers got virtually no instruction on the operation of the car or practice time. By, the way your probably fighting a loosing battle here. Since I've worked in Cart and currently do happen to work in the "ghey" sport called Nascar. I've seen just about all forms of major motorsport enough to know they are all equally lame anymore and mostly just a business.

I'd like to see Montoya @ Talledega on any given Sunday.. He'd probably be a black stripe around turn 3 with a DNF.
Just Kidding, interesting article. Jeff Gordon did fine jumping into a F1 car, I dont know why people think these guys dont have racing skills.

Having watched nascar since they actually raced cars that looked like production cars, I sat down today with my boys (9 and 11) to watch the 'big race'. I haven't been a fan for a long time, but the 500 is a special race I try to catch a little of every year. Today we were treated to crashes every 10-15 laps, pit stops for all the cars at EVERY caution (some strategy, wtf?), adolescent chest pounding using 190 mph fists ("he started it and I finished it"), and the inexplicable rules - you can't use all of the racetrack, if you crash and the pits are closed (?!) you're SOL. To top it all off, I'm confident by next weekend nascar will have changed the rules to negate the perceived advantage of whatever make won today. Let them race, and maybe the best (not the luckiest) driver will win.
Anyone that races a car for a living has my respect. The circus that nascar has become is nauseating though, especially since it's all about money and the 'show' now and not the cars, drivers, or fans. Unfortunately most all forms of racing are the same way, but at least we don't get it crammed down our throats everywhere we turn. I encourage my kids to watch all different forms of racing, and hands down they prefer any series that turns both ways. Despite having a speedway less than 45 minutes away, I have never been there. I will however drive the 2-1/2 hours to Indy or Mid-Ohio as many times as I possibly can.
Some people enjoy nascar, my family and I don't. Arguing about what form of motorsports is best is stupid. Everyone knows it's MotoGP.

As far as NASCAR goes, if people drive 200mph right next to each other, I say "they alright!" I don't follow it by any means, and I personally consider Rally-type driving the ultimate test of all-around ability. I gotta say that the *****, endurance and (yes) strategy involved are pretty impressive. Ironically, a lot of people who dis NASCAR for driving in circles have no problem praising straight line Drag Racing...
