evo8usa,
255/40-17s fit with no fender rolling, 275s need some rear rolling.

There's a few threads dedicated to the issue. Check the Stock Class sticky namely.

Thanks Richard. I hope I can continue to do that the rest of the season. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that will hopefully work as well as I want.

What are people pushing for HP on BSP cars? I haven't seen any numbers from anyone.

My car made 298 hp and 320 tq. This is on 22 psi peak boost with stock 9.8 turbo ('03) and 93 octane. Other mods are ported mani, O2 housing, 3" DP, 3" HFC and 3" exhaust as well as Buschur intake and LICP. The car should have made more power, something was restricting flow above 5000-5200 rpm (HP curve just flattens out). Power delivery is great though after the tune.

With a larger FMIC and piping as well as race gas you could make a good bit of power with an '05 or '06. Enough to be close to Stompy anyway. I read over on Nasioc one of the BSP Sti's has about 314 hp/355 tq.

Short answer... I'm guessing 320 WHP would be possible on an Evo 8???

I remember figuring a while back what some modifications seemed to be worth in peak HP. These are very rough numbers, and just based on looking at lots of mod lists and dyno numbers:

20 HP from running the stock turbo with higher boost limits.
20 HP from running performance cams (like HKS).
10 HP from running a test pipe.
10 HP from running a race gas map (100+ octane).

This seemed to fit pretty well between an ESP Evo 8 (under old boost rules) with a high-flow cat on pump gas, putting out around 280 WHP, up to a Vishnu Stage 1+ with test pipe running C16 fuel, putting out around 340 WHP, along with lots of other cars in between.

If those numbers are at all reasonable, a BSP Evo 8 should be capable of reaching around 320 WHP -- the only thing the 340 WHP Stage 1+ has that you can't do is the cams, which are worth about 20 HP.

All of that is based on the Evo 8. I'm not familiar enough with the Evo 9 motor to know how it's affected by MIVEC, or how much of the MIVEC-derived HP gain can be attained on the Evo 8 simply with a cam gear change.

Looks like 350hp and 400lbs torque for top STis in BSP.

Hi jbrenen,

Missed you down in SD, I was down there in the morning.

I think the corvettes are close to 400whp and more in torque.

I highly doubt that. The stock turbo's on the STI are pretty small.

It's been done on 3 STi's so far.

Just saying hi, I was lurking but I figured I'd introduce myself. I am over on Nasioc quite a bit.

Peace,
Justin

I believe those high numbers for the Sti's are using race gas. Have any of the evo guys here seen the stock "O2" housing for the Sti? The wastegate outlet is horrible, it's a flat plate directly behind the outlet port of the turbine.

kekek - your definately right about the wastegate, it sucks..when you replace the downpipe though the waste gate air does not hit off of a plate in that location..it's known that the suby guys are jealous of your turbos a little bit.. or at least we wish ours were a bit bigger, lol

the numbers are on race gas..pump gas is about 20hp and 25tq less..

They are not which is why the IX would be the superior car. Someone mentioned Shocks earlier. Last year on Branden's cars(STU Champ) we ran Teins because we did not have the luxury of being able to afford the suspension we wanted. This year though we are running a different car with a different driver and we are running prototype ZZYZX Suspension. We picked Steve(ZZYZX) up as a sponsor and I think any Autocrosser would be silly to overlook his suspension. This year we are running a IX MR in STU with Stve's stuff on it. "Stompy" runs ZZYZX and so does Craig Wilcox's with his Mini. Both cars are very fast and very well known. I think the perfect BSP car would not only have to be a IX because of the needed low end torque to compete with the Suby's and Vette's but I would definatly run Steve's suspension under it.

Is Branden still running his STi with Teins? Also was there was some question about the legality of Branden's UTEC in STU- what was the outcome?

How's the MR doing, hit any national events yet?

Rick
