Day at Limerock
I went to Limerock recently and typed a write up about it on MS Word. But Evom said it was too long. So instead of shortening my write up I'm just linking it in through evotuners.net another GREAT evo sight.
The black Evo I'm talking about is KingKyle. It was a pleasure meeating you. I really hope to run with you again up there. That was a blast. Two Evos just pullin away from the STi's and through West Bend, the twin evo 'drift.' Ahh what a day. Anyways, read up hope you enjoy.

Yeah it was a fun day.... I ended up running a low 1:02 last weekend when I went back. It ended up that tire pressure makes a 2sec diff at Lime Rock. I have the video of the two of us but I need to change it over to google video (100megs to big for me to stream). I'll try to get the video up today here...

62sec!! damn thats moving man!! tire pressures are huge. I had an auto-x last weekend and increased the fronts 5psi and took 1second off my time.
we were so close up there it was great. i really questioned why you pointed me by. i was doing all i could to keep up with you.
please post the vid. i wanna see it. my family was more worried about timing me than video taping. and the video i do have that they made focuses more on my 8mos old nephew than me..........attention ***** j/k
you gonna be up there for SCDA in june, if so what date, i'm trying to make it

The reason I let you by was so i could follow you... I'm too nice at driving events...
SCDA is all sold out man... wish I could. BTW in the video you will see your exhaust come off right in front of me and fly by my window...

I just looked at the schedule and saw it was sold it, I might try to make the June 22 CART event, I'm not sure, depends on when my unit gets activated.
That makes sense now. I was ever so slightly faster than on you the main straight, but every else (even through the esses I think you were slightly faster).
O
So I DID lose my exhaust at the track! I thought I lost it on the way home. I'm sorry man. The clamp holding it on must have fallen off or broken.
When following you, I noticed one thing, going into the downhill turn, don't brake. Come wide out of west bend to carry as much speed as possible. Let off the throttle going under the bridge or just before the track starts going downhill. Let the engine slow you up. When you start your turn in, apply lots of throttle. Once you pass the apex, the suspension will rise back up and cause you to push a little. Keep the steering input the same because the suspension will settle. When you feel it start to understeer, start to apply for throttle, yes more. By the time you press the gas the suspension will have settled and you will shoot out with more speed.
Your driving up there is really impressive. You are smooth and concise. I need a lot of work as does my car. We were easily the fastest cars in that group.

Yeah... due to the old tires (sitting on the car outside all winter) and some pressure issues... braking was needed. Last week I was almoast flat footed on the downhill. My theoretical lap time shows 1:01... im sure if I got some hoosiers it would be 59's... not bad for a buch of street evo's BTW we were faster than the pole sitting grand am cup car from Daytona (the RSX - s in your pictures).
Video is wating to be approved by google... should be up soon

Tires are the biggest difference makers. Thats the ONLY reason I was able to keep up with you. It was funny, the day after I was able to just LOOk at my tires and tell which one was on what corner of the car. You can see the rubber marbles on the inside of the left rear tire. The marbles as you know, are cause my sliding the car around. And since LRP is mostly left hand turns, the left rear is doing most of the grabbing and sliding in the rear

Just an FYI for others - the muffler comes off at about the 4 minute mark in the vid.
Guys - Great video! How do you mount your camcorder in the Evo? I've got to get my camcorder mounted, but most of the setups I've seen in other cars involve a headrest/post deal, which obviously can't work unmodified on the Recaros, and I can't mount a harness brace. Any suggestions would be appreciated on that one.
As far as track days, I joined my local BMW CCA - they're a great bunch of guys and run some great events. I did LRP last fall, and I'm headed there again on 5/6 & 9/23. 2 Watkins Glen events sandwiched in between.
