Won't having more synchros contribute to notchiness? The sleeves will need to slide past more moving parts before it hits the gears.

UPDATE

Got the TRE rebuilt 6spd back this last friday, finally! It's going back in the car today. I will be installing the tranny cooler and tranny temp gauge/probe in the next coming weeks and will be doing a full write-up with photos.

Running redline MTL to break in the rebuilt tranny. Jon@TRE recommended either BG2 or Redline MTL. I will probably be trying out some NEO RHD fluid after the break-in.

Also, my stock clutch was towards it's end of life at 32,000 miles and 10+ track events so I am also installing a RRE 2900lb clutch and flywheel with SS line.

I will create a new thread linked from here when I do the tranny cooler install how-to writeup.

So far this whole ordeal has cost approx $3200 and thats before the tranny cooler parts.

:
Man Razor, I would not recommend that clutch. Lotsa complaints about lockouts. Hopefully you have done your research.

Good deal. RRE is a great company. Hell I used to buy my DSM and GVR4 parts from them 10 years ago . Glad to know if you have problem, you have the "in" there.

That's weird because Tony recommended the ACT over their own "No Name" clutch. In fact, that's what they installed on mine.

What's weird? That I have known them for over 7yrs? I actually haven't spoken to Tony in about 3 years. The disc is actually a ACT disc.

No, no, no...sorry. My only point was that when I had my new clutch instaled last year, I asked about the "NO-name" clutch and Tony recommended the ACT over it. I did not know that the disc was an ACT. Perhaps he had a concern with the pressure plate? I don't know. I am only trying to relate what was told to me. Make sense?

Shep finally got mine apart, and he said it was a war zone. All the teeth were sheared off of 4th as expected, but the flying bits also tore up the final drive, output shaft, and some other stuff. Cost to fix is brutal. Based on John's dislike of the 6spd and lack of confidence that the 6spd will withstand lots of road racing despite all of his best tricks and cooling, I am going with a 5spd conversion using an VIII 5spd with a IX 5th gear.

After we settle on costs, he will probably send it to me early next week. I'll probably also get the 6spd fixed and sell it, so if anyone is interested in a fully rebuilt 6spd with all the Shep goodies, let me know.
