This has me very nervous now, just bought my MR in june and planned on doing a
open lapping day at beaver run at the end of july. This would be my first time in
the evo on the road course.

You should be fine. I tracked my evo almost 10 times before this happened. You also probably won't be flogging it too hard your first time on the track with it. Make sure there is fresh good oil in it.

How often were you swapping it when this happened? were the courses you were driving in mostly a 4th gear type course?

Every 10k on the tranny and TC fluid. Every 5k on the rear diff because it was so easy.

I am also looking into running a tranny cooler now. Upgrading my engine oil cooler and my power steering cooler.

This whole incident got me thinking about cooling much more then before.

Thunderhill is probably 80% 4th gear. Buttonwillow I am not sure, probably the same, and a little more 5th gear. I run Thunderhill much more than buttonwillow so it's less then half the distance away.

The car is sitting in my garage with a broken tranny still.

I'm going to talk over everything with Jon @ TRE once he gets back in town next week.

I'll let everyone know the outcome and what I chose to go with. I am leaning really hard towards a tranny cooler and I will for sure let everyone know all about it. Unless I have to sign an NDA or something.

I loved the BG2, it was butter, and even after killing my 4th gear I could go into every gear, including 4th just like before.

Again, I will let everyone know after we get the tranny apart what the exact reason was.
