Wait, let me make sure I understand you.
Generally, you would change it right before the event. If the event was super stressful on the car and the tranny likely heated up a large amount, then change it after the event too. Otherwise, continue to drive on the used fluids until the beginning of the next event (which is never more than 2 months away during the summer season).

I change mine out right before events, Ive done two so far. My first weekend speedventures event was on stock fluid, and second event was on the mopar fluid. Just bought a couple jugs of castrol syntorq LT from 4x4parts.com, will change it before next event again. I notice it does get quite notchy AFTER events, but before on the fresh change its fine. Actually was really notchy on the stock fluid after the first event I did, with the mopar stuff after last event its not that bad so I havent changed it. AutoX's Im not too concerned about. I do my tcase and diff before events too, with diaqueen in those.

but for everyday driving, the 5 speed especially the IX close ratio 5 speed is absolutely horrible on highway, the engine rev so high compare to the 6 speed and especially re-acceleration on the highway the 6 speed just shines (i am talking 100mile and above, I love top speed run, the 6 speed at 7k rpm tops out around 168mph where the IX 5 speed tops out around 154mph)

I'm glad you quantified your "why".
The 5 speed, overall has been much more durable, than the 6 speed. Short of top gear, theres no gain with the 6 speed.
I also didn't purchase the car to drive on the street. I bought it, stripped it, and caged it. Theres no highway that you're gonna cruise over 80 mph at, and if you're gung-ho for mileage, you definatly purchased the wrong car. Sure it's handy, but fuel mileage is not a selling point on the evo.
5th gear in the 5 speed is a dog. no doubts about it, relative to the 5th of the 6 speed. But it is durable. I never had tranny issues with the 6 speed, and i honestly beat the crap out of it. The car failed, not the tranny (minor street accident totalled the car). But thats not to say of all the people that have killed gears in the 6 speed. At some point, you realize you're on borrowed time.
