I'm not the only one with the stock 6 speed running at the track, but, if it does go I'll swallow my pride and let you guys know. You may be waiting a while.

Hi guys, I am a beautiful and unique snowflake....

Ask TRE or Shep about 4th gear on the 6spd. It cannot take the heat, it's not from ham-fisted drivers. This has been discussed ad nauseum since I started this thread six years ago.

Mine went at thunderhill, if you are in the "faster" club there in a Evo, you are mainly in 4th gear all the time on that track. Lots of heat buildup.

Second TRE built 6spd only lasted 5 months or so. I went to a TRE built 5spd and never looked back and it's still going strong years later.

But seriously, what makes you think that you are special? I guess you are saying that every single 6sp transmission that broke with a sub-450hp motor was driver error?
+1.

I only make 325 hp and about 380 tq on a mustang dyno. After 12k miles on track I destroyed 4th gear in a 5 speed. Spun all 4 in 4th gear at BIR in the rain, next thing I know I stopped moving forward.

just like the 6 speed cases, i doubt either are driver error.

Yes, it certainly won't hurt. People were doing that back when it first came out but ended up breaking anyway.

I blame all of you! My trans was fine until I got on this thread!

JK! Seriously had an epic failure sunday at NJMP. Second session out was OK. Pitted in for a sec, next thing I know I can't get it into 1st or 2nd! I start out the next session in 3rd and 2 laps in I lose 4th. I kept going with just 3rd and 5th. Lots of fun...Time to call SHEP!

Here is the video-

Running NJMP with only 3rd & 5th gears!

Sounds like you Evo 9 owners need to swap for a sturdier 5 speed for serious track duty. I'm feeling lucky that I have the 6 speed MR with the flappy paddles now, especially with all the advancements as of late.

Easy solution for Team Foren...send trans to Shep for rebuild, also ask for 5 speed conversion package ofr an extra 450. THe 5 speed supposedly saved 15lbs also, so its a win win.

Is it worth adding a transmission temp gage when making the swap to a 5 speed?

While I have 50K on the car with around 2K in track miles I chickened out and got a Shep ultimate ratio 5 spd.

I really liked the 6 speed , I'll let you know about the 5. I just hope I sleep a little better now
