New Evo World Record!!!
... for tire carrying. This weekend at the Super Street Time Attack at Road Atlanta I had 23 tires by my car for various reasons:
- 7 Very Used RA1s, 4 of which were mounted on my race wheels.
- 4 Used Hoosier R6s found at a tire shop while getting the RA1s mounted.
- 4 Kuhmo 710s taken off my race wheels to mount the RA1s
- 4 Used (4/32 ish) RA1s given to me by Chris Rado during the weekend (he rocks by the way)
- 4 Kuhmo 711s on my street wheels.
Not including the tires on the wheels I was driving home on, I managed to carry 12 tires home (the other 5 a friend took for me), and here are the pictures of the Ev-tow also known as a mobile tire warehouse:
The funny thing is that I still could have fit more. I've done major hauling like this so many times with the Evo, and it's the reason why I love this car. Great performance mixed with the capabilities of a truck, beat that one.
Lastly, we also found the JIC Silvia's wrecked front bumper in the trash, so we did what any heat-stroked, tired, delerious car guys would do:
JDM TYTE~!~!
We brought that bumper home as well.
Anyway, I'll get some in-car video up soon from the event. All my camera cables are 3 hours away at the moment.

I guess not having a rollbar solves the problem of not having a race trailer to haul the car home if you flip it at the track.
It appalls me how lax the safety requirements are for some of these events.

That, Devin, is a lot of rubber.
I'm doing my best to wear down the 275s; two events and two A Stock victories since Bele Chere, but these were, of course, won because of your absence.
Come back up to the mountains and teach me some more!
Rick
P.S. Diane is driving the wheels off my car now; check out the Highlands photo site for pics (she's AS 6 at the day series #4).

The notion of having to drive home is constantly on my mind at such events. Unfortunately being in college still doesn't lend itself to owning a tow vehicle and a trailer. I find myself pulling back the reins at times, though, because of the notion of having to drive home.

Hopefully I'll be able to make an event soon, but now is crunch time on our Grassroot's Challenge RX7, so most of my weekends from here until October are going to be eaten by that car. I should be able to make a Night Series though.
Anyway, keep the streak alive
