Track pad question...

Track pad life depends on several factors:
1. Your driving style
2. Track configuration
3. Brake cooling
4. Post-session cool down
Cool the brakes well, and always have an extra set of pads in your tool kit. You should get anywhere from 4 to 20 track days with a good set of race-only pads, depending on the factors above.

All great info; thx. I'm not personally familiar with RA, but I know it's a pretty big track. I personally do a lot of 7/10's driving as I'm visiting tracks for the first time and also seems like I'm continually upgrading so I have a partially new setup nearly every time I'm out!
Good do know some people can get 'track-only' pads to last say... 10 track days. Just like I know people can get RA1's to last 10 track days.
Maybe that's a better way to measure - how long pads last in concert with RA1's or NT01's or the like. But tires are even more subjective to driving style imo; and pretty hard to measure person-to-person.
FWIW; I'm trying to measure the cost of consumable for tracking my Evo in the future.

Yep, I'm gotten that memo on mods before too! And you're definitely right.
But this is why, along with the midwest summer heat, that I'm taking about 1 1/2 months off from events! Broke!
I want to increase my track time and competitiveness next year, and not sure if I'll be in an Evo next year. I just need to get a grasp on what it'll take!

OMG this is such great advice! I made the mistake ONCE of calculating how much money PER HOUR OF TRACK TIME I spent over a season. This was the bad news:
$23 per hour in gas
$26 per hour in brake pads
$57 per hour in tires
That's not counting brake rotors, gas to and from the track, hotel, and event fees (yes, instructors have to pay to teach with most schools!). And that was a couple years ago with my RSX Type-S that had much cheaper brake pads.
It's a good idea to have a budget in advance so you know what you can afford, but once you go track, don't ever look back! (at how much you spent)
