Anyone ever use uhaul to transport...
cars to the track and back. I called uhaul and they have nice car trailers. 2.5 inch min. clearance and the sides fold down so you can still open you doors. Anybody every use them? thanks

I went through that experience. All I can say is you reallly need to watch out for the front bumper clearance when you load/unload the car, especially if the car is lowered. Unfortunatly I learned the hard way (skip towards the end of the post).....

If you have time and don't mind spending the extra money, I would look into other places to rent besides uhaul. Places that usually sell trailers have rentals available for a good price, sometimes cheaper then uhaul.

We used one to haul 1/2 way across the country.
We used (2) 1? x 8x 48 boards to help load/unload. We also used our own tow straps and "T" hooks to tie down to the frame rails.

I recently used a uhaul trailer to tow my evo when I moved from Pensacola, FL to Tampa, FL. I have an 03 evo8 with tein s-tech springs and 18x9 wheels on 40 series tires. I had to take off the front bumper in order to get the car on the trailer, but other than that I had no issues with it. Good luck.

Haulling a$$
If you go to UHaul's website and you tell them you have an Evo, they'll just warn you of the clearance problems. You can still rent from them but you'll be warned that you're on your own if you damage anything on your car.
Go buy three (3) 2inx12inx8f boards, cut them into 2ft, 4ft, and 6ft sections and "stair-step" them up to a comfortable level. Then you can lay the ramp for the trailer on top of your "stairs" and you'll have a better angle to drive the car up on trailer.
Another way is to have the trailer perpendicular to your driveway and lay the ramps down so they make a nice angle to your driveway (as long as your driveway isn't too steep and you can't make that "nice" angle).
You can also put the trailer up against the curb and drive the car across the grass and onto the trailer, again satisfying the angle needed to get onto the trailer.
Plenty of ways to attack this problem. The only other problem you might create is getting the car off and not having the right conditions mentioned above.
Plan ahead.

Back and Forth
I haven't tried it that way so I can't say for sure, but once again the angle may be too severe when backing up and you'll still end up dragging the front valance. as the car is tipped forward.
Can I borrow your car to try it out?

Very well said. +1
I use very similar methods when putting my evo on my '06 trailer. Also, my trailer is very close to the ground, so stock evo can get on the ramps easily without any help of boards.
Also thanks to David Buschur for showing me the right way to hook up the car to the trailer.
Here is some pics I took the other day...
