How does that compute???

Your car starts off in TTC + 15 (5 points away from TTB) if you have 39, that would clearly put you in TTA ... to stay in TTB you would have to have 24 or less points in mods ....

It seems lot of the EVO drivers are confusing the reflashable ECU (stock) with a reprogrammable/retunable ECU (Xede, AEM, Hydra, etc) ... Honestly IMHO, I think some of the things the EVO guys (cough*fireball*cough ) posted on the NASA forums hurt EVO owners rather than help them.

Anyways guys, after reading the NASA thread its pointless to argue about this as it seems the new set of rules coming out will change/fix a lot of things. For eg: camber points are gone and will be free, brake pad point are gone (Yay! ) and it seems like all reflashed/retuned ECUs will fall into 1 group and be assessed the same points. Something tells me there won't be anymore 4 point ECU modification ...

I guess we'll all have to wait until the new rules come out .... anyways congrats to the guys that have made it up to TT and remember to be safe, give yourself and those around you plenty of space and only pass in a safe manner ......

.....
It works that way because 39 includes my +15 penalty.

Gotcha!

What have you done to the car that makes up 24 points, just curious?

5 – Toyo
4 – Cams
8 – ECU
2 – Exhaust
1 – cat
2 – springs
1 – brake pads (pads are supposed to be free in ’07)
2 –sway

If I was made of money I would trade in the cams and ECU for coilovers and more tire. Doesn't matter really at this point anyway. All last year I was bench racing and didn't compete in TT like I originally wanted to and at this rate I might not get to until late next year.

I would assume you would have to do a fuel pump with those mods to be safe, correct? That would add another 2 points .... Or are you one that likes to live dangerously ?

He'd be ok if he has no MBC and is still on stock boost. Strange to do that considering the other mods unless it was specifically setup to compete in TTB (not sure).

No mbc or fuel pump. I took the WORKS path. But if I've been living dangerously, I've been doing it for 3 years with LOTS of track/travel time and no ill effects.

My goal is to stay in TTB. Faster is starting to mean less and less to me. I've even considered ditching the evo and just picking up a Miata or e30 bmw. Heck, I'd love to just stay stock in TTC with some wider rubber, brake pads and the perfect alignment. It would have saved me a lot of money. But eff it, roll bar goes in this week and my harness shortly after that. This stuff is like crack.

Yeah, Works flash is basically stock boost with a little less taper. The fuel pump could randomly fail at anytime just because they are shoddy, but he is not going to overflow it by any means.

+1 on the lighter weight, lower HP starter car. The EVO tears through consumables, especially with a few mods.

+1 on the yummy crack too.

I knew no fuel pump was required with a TBE and stock boost level but wasn't sure if it was needed when you threw in cams. Good to know that no fuel pump upgrade is required ... I agree this thing is like crack , like you I keep thinking about starting off with a cheaper platform to save money ... and like you I keep sayin eff it ...

Cars that have gone through my head Civic, Crx, Rx7 older 2nd gen, Miata ( I can't fit into), Hyundai Tiburon, Subaru 2.5 RS (sorta-kinda) ...
Anyone care to add what cars they have thought about?

I honestly have no desire to drive anything else regardless of how competitive my Evo is (or isn't). If something else out there can kick *** on the track, in auto-x, on the drag strip, and be daily driven with no problem while my kid is in the infant seat with a trunk full of groceries with great traction for the Colorado Winters, then I might re-consider.

If I were to start over again (a real possibility in the next couple of years), I would probably get an E30 and go spec racing. That still might happen...

Thats exactly how I feel, sans drag strip, substitute infant with friends and Colorado with Nebraska winters ... but the idea of saving money is enticing, but deep in my heart I know if won't be as much fun as an EVO Eff it

Happy turkey day guys!!! and I hope we can all meet at the track some day ....
