Evo 8 MR vs. a C5 Z06
This is from last year at MAM. This is my stock MR (Toyo RA-1's) chasing a C5 Z06. We both have passengers along for the battle. You'll notice the Z06 has unquestionable speed on the straight. Fortunately the Evo has better brakes and equal or slightly better cornering. Enjoy.
P.S. my inability to apex turn 1 (after the first lap) is brake (fade) related. For those of you that know this track, my inside line at 6 relates to rocks the Vette was kicking up. The normal line would be to scrub less speed and use the entire track in this section.

The event was my local (Minneapolis) car club’s annual PDE at MAM. It was held in May of last year.
As we all know, timing is a no-no if one wants to keep car insurance active (no racing, no timing). That said, timing the video reveals a best time of 1:48.00. In addition to the 17 x 9 Wedsport SA-70 wheels and 255/40/17 Toyo RA-1's, the only other mods are Ferodo DS2500 pads in the front, Stop Tech S.S brake lines and Motul 600 fluid. Most of us know this pad it's NOT a track pad. It does OK for a while, but can't really take the heat of extended lapping.
If you’re interested, we’ll be back at MAM this year on June 16 and 17th. If you want to run with us, go here- http://www.rmarshall.com/PDE2007.html

Actually no regular insurance company is going to cover you if get into a wreck on the track, timed or not. Check out this thread for more info:

But there is an alternative to "regular" insurance if you are interested ...
I usually run with FindTheLine, good group of guys from MN. I'm also seriously persuing NASA events this year but will still be doing a few with FindTheLine. With my car, EVO8 MR with catback, Ferodo DS2500 pads, Motul 600 fluid and 2.5 years old Advan A046 (I got from a fellow EVOm member), I was able to pull a 1min 50.2sec @ MAM ....

The FindTheLine group is a great bunch. I've run with Damien (Damian?) and the other FD's at Road America for years. The very event I speak of is this coming weekend. As I'm still waiting to completely rebuild my front calipers and add an AMS brake cooling kit, I won't be able to attend for the first time in 5 years.

Amazing how a 4door sedan can perform so well....

Evo =T2
And a 58s lap in a stock C5Z?...surely with r-comps.
Again, it comes down to the AWD sedans being easier to drive fast for most.

I spent last weekend leapfrogging with an 07 Z06 at Lime Rock and a 06 GT3. The Z06 driver and I are equal and the GT3 driver is a level behind. With my lightly modded MR, I was between :58-1:02 (varying conditions and # of cars on track), the Z06 never saw below a minute. Had the Z06 driver not had ESP/Yaw control, he wouldn't have completed a lap - a Vette on the uphill with a slight steering input can be nasty...
