Redline Time Attack - Summit Point, WV September 29th-30th

If you believe that is too expensive, I think if you compare our rates to other groups who are offering over 2 hours of track time WITH professional instruction, you will find that $225 is VERY competitively priced.
Now, when I say "first timer", I dont mean someone who is running with us for the first time. I mean first time EVER on a race track. It is very important that we get first timers up to speed safely and the only way for us to be confident of that is to make sure they have an instructor the entire day. It is in everyone's best interests... especially the "newbs". :-)

We will be there with 3 or more cars. Once again. I might be running in Unlimited class if I can't get my hands on some street tires. I'd be interested to see if any young guns can beat my time on street tires.

Are there any restrictions on registering in multiple classes with the same driver? From the results I've seen in the past for Redline events, I'm guessing not, but I just wanted to check.
Also, if you register for one class and then decide close to the event that you want to run a different class, is there any concern that the class into which you want to switch will already be full? For example, at VIR there is a cap on Street class specifically. Will there be class-specific caps for the Summit Point event?
Thanks.

Thanks for the call today Nick, Just to confirm you said that Toyos RA1 which are still considered street tires (DOT approved) are accepted in street class right?
You asked me if my Spec E30 is still street legal with registration and I have that covered but I just want to confirm about the tires. Furthermore, they are not shaved my set will have either full thread or %70 left.

The second time we spoke I clarified that RA1's are NOT eligible for use in Street Class. Just want to make sure everyone else understands that as well.

The closest thing we will have to an HPDE is the Street Class Time Attack. Much of the time on the track will be just like an HPDE. If you choose not to compete in the time attack that is your option. You will still receive about 3-4 hours of track time over the course of the weekend even if you DO NOT participate in the actual Time Attack competition rounds.
Anyone looking for some inexpensive track time on the Patriot Course at VIR you should consider our event.

So, that means that at any given time, there will be from 1/4 to 1/3 or so of the participants actually on the track. If you have 10 hours track time, then that means 2.5 to 3 hours per participant for the whole weekend -- assuming no time between sessions, no slippage in the schedule, no lunch break, etc. -- so, probably 2 to 2-1/2 hours per person for the weekend realistically. That's a lot less than the 3-4 that you are projecting above.
I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I'm just trying to make sure that expectations line up with reality.
Thanks,
Rich

Nick, I'm getting confused on the math here. You posted in the VIR thread that Redline has the Patriot track for 5 hours each day, so 10 hours total. You also posted that there will be up to 40 slots in Street and that at any given time during the practice sessions there will be 10-15 cars on track.
So, that means that at any given time, there will be from 1/4 to 1/3 or so of the participants actually on the track. The way that we have the schedule worked out, each driver will receive 2 hours of practice on Saturday, 1 1/2 hours of practice on Sunday and 1 Time Attack session on Sunday. We may tweak the schedule to allow for one more time attack session, either on Saturday or on Sunday.

Thanks for answering all of my questions. I'm about to sign up for the HPDE. One last thing, your site says that a Snell 2000 helmet is required. Does it need to be SA rated? If so, are loaner helmets available? I only have an M rated helmet that I use at autocrosses.

At all of our events we do allow M rated helmets. However, I need to verify with the staff at VIR to see if they have a different policy that supersedes our policy.
