Word on the street also is that almost all the unlimited class cars got DSQ cause they didn't meet the sound reg for the event. (Although they all were ok the day before) Go figure.

in the practice sessions you werent black flagged unless you blew sound on 2 consecutive laps... time attack it was one and out.

was there any word on the street about magic street tires that were instantly faster than NT-01s?

Actually that kinda came out wrong. I have heard that a bunch of cars were unable to meet the sound restriction. Didn't mean any disrespect to Factorx on their win as the word on the street is also that they were fast. Congrats.

This event was bogus.

The sound limit was unobtainable even with a AMS street exhaust with added mufflers, a 90 degree elbow right outside the car and a ala diesel semi exhuast pointing straight up and taller than the wing! AMS ran a low 1:31 in practice while trying to take it ez passed the sound mics with the additional restrictive exhaust. From what I was told this was FTD, so even with a DQ, AMS was fastest again. So kudos to AMS and the crew!

before this all laguna crap starts..

you are only fastest if you obey all the rules of the event.

...everyone got it?

if your 400ft home run is 2" foul.. its not a home run.. its a strike.

The fastest NSX I believe ran a 1:31.4x, the other one ran a 1:31.7x

Very fast times under the 92db limit for sure.

I had a schedule conflict on Sunday so I didn't go into the weekend with any prep or timing equipment. The tires are two season old M+S tires I wanted to flog before buying a new set. Fun event, will be back next year.

The sounds thing hurt, we thought we were ok based on the practice session. Our car was running 1:31's on moderate boost so we had a lot more in it but the DB limit got us. If this takes place at the same venue next year we have to pass. With Three mufflers/resonators on the car we were not able to pass the sound limit..I dont know what else we could of done.

Hats off the winners in the class not just for winning but keeping your cars quiet enough to run.

Hey Eric, I know it was frustrating for you guys out there.
I think AMS got the worst of it as far as the sound limit goes.
I give you guys big props for getting through as best as you did.

Lots of teams had problems at this last event of the year. Lot's of blown turbos and wheels flying off cars, and air filters being sucked into engines....
Even with all the problems, almost everyone got their cars up and running the next day for the Time Attack.
I have to say I haven't seen as much dedication to get through the end of an event as I saw at this season closer.

I'd like to say thanks to all that have supported the series this past year. We couldn't have done this without teams like AMS, ROBISPEC, CRAWFORD, JIC and several others that really came out and drove these cars to the fullest potential. I look forward to next year!

The final results will be posted very soon. We had a slight delay getting all the photos and times ready for posting for this last event, but everything should be up online later tomorrow on the redlinetimeattack.com website.

Thanks!
Chris

Sucks about the noise limit. That's Laguna for you though. Last time there I got blackflagged for noise. It was just my street car and a full raced out 993 in the tech impound. Go figure.

Overall it was a pretty fun event. This was my first time at Laguna Seca in the dry and it is actually a pretty fun track! The sound limit got me as well. My Evo was hitting in the high 97db range at its best, but what are you going to do. We all knew about the sound limit long before this past weekend. I don't even remember what my times were but they weren't very quick. Aside from having to lift past the sound station, I had a massive tire rub issue and a slipping clutch . My Evo still needs a lot of work and hopefully I will be able to give it some attention and make some changes during the off season for next year.
