WORKS Motorsports wins the Import Tuner EVO vs. STI Shootout 5 Lap Attack
WORKS Motorsports wins the Import Tuner EVO vs. STI Shootout
5 Lap Attack Winner (Tuner Class):
Buttonwillow, California (November 6, 2007) WORKS Motorsports won the 5 Lap Attack - Tuner Class Shootout sponsored by Import Tuner and presented by Hankook Tires. The EVO vs. STI event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park included six Mitsubishi Evolution’s and six Subaru STI’s competing in a Time Attack portion (fastest single lap) and a cumulative 5-lap average around the Buttonwillow race track.
Facing stiff competition, WORKS driver David Brown used consistency and smoothness to take the overall victory. “The WORKS street prepared Time Attack EVO was setup aggressively for the Time Attack portion but the power and overall consistency of the package allowed us to come out on top this afternoon for the 5-lap shootout”, stated Mr. Brown. WORKS utilized a mid-level boost tune on the stock ECU with the WORKS P2 flash to provide just enough power to satisfy the quest for speed versus reliability. Changing track conditions and temperature required constant changes to the chassis which allowed the WORKS EVO to make the most of its Hankook supplied racing tires.
WORKS would like to thank Import Tuner Magazine, Hankook Tires and Buttonwillow Raceway Park for putting on a fantastic event. The competition was fierce yet every team showed class and comraderie that was the highlight of the day. In addition, the track management was first rate and it was a pleasure to meet up with so many enthusiasts and real gearheads. Hope to see some of you at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Cheers and Enjoy the pictures:

The HarmanMotive STI got 2nd in the street class but the above picture was taken during the photo setup without it being parked yet. The official magazine shot will include it. Tuning technologies won the street class over me by .3 seconds with Paul Gerrard driving. I dont know all of the results for the other cars at this time.
Congrats to all entries and organizers, everyone was really nice and professional at the event (but the chicken at lunch was pretty dry.... ).
