2008 Jon K/Mongoose Motorsports

Well, it looks like I am moving furthur and further from Evos, but it also looks like I will be back playing on tracks with you guys more this year than last year.

The good news, I will be running in TTR in NASA Time Trials, so I don't think I will come up against many Evos. This is our release, and I hope to see a bunch of you at the track this year.

As with before, when I am at events I will be trying to take pictures and come back on here to discuss. (Here's a thought: maybe we can get some Evos out for One Lap of America this year also..)

Jon Krolewicz and Mongoose Motorsports to tackle tracks across the US in 2008.

In 2008 Mongoose Motorsports will expand on its 2007 motorsports success with a schedule that will show off the capabilities of both the GTP and Grand Sport Replicas.

Jon Krolewicz will be handling the bulk of the driving duties for the team as they continue to work together to develop the GTP and make both replicas a formidable force on tracks across the country.

The 2008 schedule will include time trials, autocross, drag racing and a top speed contest. Depending on scheduling, the Grassroots Motorsports Magazine Ultimate Track Car Challenge may also be added to the schedule.

Mongoose Motorsports, based out of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio builds replicas of the Grand Sport and GTP. Mongoose Motorsports will detail its racing at www.racemongoose.com

I was talking about that the other day.. I should have some time as I want to run the CRX in STS2 some more, and the Mongoose schedule leaves quite a few weekends open.

I'm sure I'll see you at Mid Ohio sometime this year.

Good luck.

Holy wide rubber batman, with an ls7, and 2500 lbs, nice indeed. Any way to get more weight out?

Yes.

We are have a lighter monocoque built, the first one is WAY overbuilt, and I am told the new one is about 100 lbs lighter. Also.. that's a LOT of fiberglass on it... so the designer is trying to talk the owner into a carbon fiber body.

We are hoping that the lighter monocoque and carbon body will drop our weight 200-250lbs.

Then of course we go to work on the engine.. I am looking at a target of 650HP and 2250 weight.

For reference, right now the car is easily street-driven, it has 404whp, and automatic transmission and is roughly 2650 - 2700 with me in it depending on fuel levels. At Gateway we ran a 1:04.379 - The AMS evo ran a 1:02.9 unofficial and a 1:03.4 official. When we get HP and downforce to this thing - and a good transmission, it's going to be very fast.

Hey Jon have you ever been to Lurinburg before. Just looking to do something
different besides racing all the time. Would love to hear if you have any first hand
experience running this. I know this place is real close to Rockingham since I saw
the signs for it last year when running a enduro there last march.

I have autocrossed there, and I know that NASCAR teams have used it for real-world testing, but I have not done the ECTA stuff.

Of course once we planned to do that I am hearing that the car being set up for SCCA will not pass their safety test.. so I am doing research.

Example, if you expect to go over 175, you must have a parachute. THe rule is there because the land speed record guys put tiny breaks and rotors on the car, so they mandate chutes. I am going to have Corvette Z06 brakes at a minimum... It's good enough to stop a 3100lb car at 160mph at Roebling and multiple stops from up there a lap at Road America.. but I get to put a chute on the car.. go figure..

So how is it going to work with Danny Pop picking up the new GTP? I assume you will still be testing one and he the other?
