Can you find a stock VIII or IX to test against?

I say just get a smattering of cars in various states of tune to see how they do.

I'd love to join in but you guys are doing this on the wrong end of the country.

The only fair thing to test would be a bone stock IX GSR with low miles. Being that Mitsu does not have a media one anymore, that leaves us to the private sector. Personally, I dont know of many bone stock low mile cars, and certainly not one that will let us drive it at speed around big willow. However, if there is a volunteer, we would be happy to do so.

The other issue is the track. Streets is one thing being its a near zero penalty track. Willow however has a sizable wall on a high speed sweeper. So we wont be putting down the kinds of 10 10ths laps required to really compare the numbers. We do have a transponder and there is timing, but the review will rely more on impressions and consistency of times, rather than the hard number itself. We are both experienced drier, although not pros by any means. I actually have more experience in stock evos, than modified ones so I should be able to get a good impression stock to stock.

On a different note, anyone game to come out. Would be good to have some other evos on track to follow around, more stock the better.

I would think a well-driven bone stock IX should be able to run 1:35 at Big Willow. I won't loan you mine, so I guess you will have to take my word for it. lol

Unfortunately, it turns out the GSR is not going to be available this week, so looks like we may not make it out this weekend unless we can find something else fun to take

Owner of X had second thoughts when he realized he can't beat a VIII or IX?

It was actually a media car from mitsu, and apparently the previous tester...a magazine, beat on it a little too much. They tried, but they could not get it ready in time for us. Had we been able to stay there a few more days, it would have been ready.

So instead, they are going to get the MR and GSR ready for us later this month for a head to head test. These will be the first completely production US spec MRs.

Not a VIII for sure. I would like to have a IX, but mitsu only has an MR and RS, no GSR. And they may not have those either as they seem to be getting rd of them. They do however have a 6.5 TME

The problem is you need a bone stock low mileage car to test against or it isnt a fair comparison.

We are however very familiar with both the VIII and IX.

We are trying to make it an even bigger test by also talking to subaru in hopes of getting a new STI there. Also Robi just did a complete suspension package on a new STI and new Evo, and maybe we can coax him to getting those out there for comparison sake.
