+1, a lot of the top teams use ChaseCam. I think Speed world challange cars use them now. They have some inexpensive bullet cams and mounts.

Not totally sure, but you might be referring to the Panasonic HDC-SD9. It records to SD cards only, has motion stabilization, records in HD, etc. Price was $499.99-$749.99 on the web. Saw it in Best Buy yesterday...looks nice, isn't too heavy, etc.

This little camera has been getting some press lately:

At first glance, it seems like a simple and cheap approach. Anybody tried this?

The hero cams look very cool, cheap, easy to mount but the sound quality... ouch. You may as well either kill the mic or understand you will have to edit the audio out all together.

I use a Sony ZR200 (older video cam) and the IOPort mount mounted on my roll cage. Works awesome. I have a chasecam but it quit working and haven't fixed it yet. It's still pretty easy to sync the video into trackvision when you want to.

Here's a video from MAM using the ZR200 with IOPort mount.

IOPort camera mount ftw!

This one seems to be making noise lately. AMS carries it. Being a motorcycle dealer I have my own distributors that carry it as well, so I ordered one, and am gonna check it out. As it is specifically designed for motorsports, it's supposed to do really well with speed, noise, and vibration. We shall see...

I have tried both hard drive and DVD video cameras and am about to go old school with an 8mm to see if that works.
I had the same problem with my HD camera it kept shutting off after the first turn. Luckily, it’s a hybrid HD/SD cam. I bought 8G SD card, it records on SD without a problem. I have recorded over 2 hours on the 8G card and there is still a lot of room left.

Here is a video from a setup my driving instructor was using: http://www.vimeo.com/1087688

I think the video here looks pretty good. He explained his setup in the 11th post in this thread: http://www.comscc.org/forums/viewtop...er=asc&start=0
