I just got back from STL and boy am I tired. It was an AWESOME time this year, especially with the "Robispec" crew all there together! It was like being part of a family....the comradery was out of this world. Everyone helped each other, and it was an awesome atmosphere.
It was great being back on the track. This was only my second track day and I ran faster than I was expecting despite my incredibly annoying issue with my brakes.
The MFQ evo was stupid sick! Pneumonia!!! Charlie is my new twin...I've never met as much of a goofball as I who got down to work when the time called for it.
Also, "Magnum" was there and al was going well until....well...pics will say it later. But, you gotta love an owner who can now only laugh at the jokes coming from thepeanut gallery, but make cracks on his own awesome but injured track car. Sir, it was a pleasure making your aquaintance as well .
Thanks to Robi for brining me some tires to compete on and to Scott for the lugnuts...you guys made a good track day better .
Any negatives? YEAH. I CAN'T HEAR ANYMORE. There was this stupid red 350Z drift car that had to be flooring I in the paddock nonstop. Why? No idea....maybe they were doing the legendary "audible dyno"?
-"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
-"497 horsepower, Chad!"
-"Oh, stop it you silly goose, let me do it again"
-"WAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaabaaabaaa!"
-"How about now, Bruceypoo?"
-"That HAD to to be 498.5! THUUUUPER!"
-"Goody goody gum drops! 5 more runs and we can go get some non fat super mega mocha frappalattes after"
-"FABULOUS!"
Can you tell I was annoyed? The drift cars in general laid down so much rubber on the track that it was a bit greasy, espeially since time attackers were using quality rubber, while the dirfters might as well have had tires made of Pink Pearl erasers.
None the less, everyone ran incredibly fast. I am looking forward to more fun in Modifed next year .

Mitch you're the man, glad to meet you. I'm glad non of us have issues with our evos. Unfortunate for the Buschur Magnum. MFQ will come to your home track and take away your trophy.

What an exciting weekend, we couldn't be happier with the Overall Win. Well maybe setting a new track record but all in all we are happy.
After running the entire Friday and Saturday practice without one single issue we were feeling pretty confident. So on Sunday with the Magnum out of the run we decided to take it easy for our first timed session and just seal the overall win.
We would then push it on the final timed session to break the track record, which we did unofficially on friday's practice.
But as luck would have it right after the first timed session while I was checking tire pressures on pit lane the cars fuel surge tank some how got a small pin hole leak causing a fire. The fire was quickly put out causing no damage other than a huge mess of powder to clean.
But without a tig welder close by our only option was to try and JB Weld the hole closed. About three hours later we put her back together and fired her up. Great it looks like its holding, so I load up our "KILL" map which bumps the boost from 20psi to 28psi giving us a huge jump in power.
But again it would seem our luck ran out, while we were sitting on pit lane again the car started leaking fuel so we shut her down and called it a weekend.
I will post some pics later when I get them.

for the miata comment, bc racing ran with 1 piston down on their front brakes meaning they were braking early to prevent anything bad from happening and still made those times
oh snap, fastest lap goes to bc
i was just making an argument because of others bashing bc's off the shelf coilovers compared to their $3k coilovers...shows you dont need those coilovers to be competitive.

the 105 was when the BC car BLEW the turn into the infield and continued on around the oval...if that would have happened in the timed session all time from that session would have been voided.. PS the Miata was down third gear and ran both timed sessions as a TWO speed (fourth and fifth). so a 2200lb 250 HP miata with 2 gears out guns a twin turbo G...your drivers major complaint? LACK OF GRIP...for future referance ADDING grip is what a race suspension does...losing grip is your "style solution" The car sure looked fast..lol PS Nice win in unlimited ;-)

I had a lot of fun guys. had a real blast hanging out with everyone and driving only one car for once. I'm really bummed my miata lost 3rd gear. Coming out onto the banked oval, the rear end hopped and when the wheel caught, it ripped all the teeth off 3rd gear. Even after draining the oil, the tranny still sounded like it had gravel in it. I could launch the car off the line in first, and then use 4th and 5th all the way around the track. The previous day, I was in 3rd about half the time, which i think slowed me down a bit on Sunday.
Its too bad the G35 couldn't get itself together. While I never talked to the owner or anyone else associated, Scott has always been a cool guy. I would have liked to have taken him on with 2 healthy cars. Following that G out onto the oval the first day made me think "oh thats just not fair" as he would light up both rear wheels at probably 80 miles an hour. It screamed in a straight line, but Scott said he struggled with lack of grip, areo, and brake bias, which are all places where my car shines. I'm sure with some more time on track that car will be faster! I hope to see you guys at later events. RWD needs to start sharing time at the top of the podium with the AWD guys.
So who is making Miller? Nils - you coming out to play any time soon?
Matt

The G35 only lacked forward grip due to the stock LSD, not the suspension. He was making up for the lack of acceleration out of the corners with his entry and mid-corner, but then had the brake issue which then screwed with his entry. This event was that G35's first time ever on a track so as expected there are a few bugs to work out. The guys at BC Racing left with a shopping list full of parts to buy for next time (brakes, wing, LSD, T-Bolt Clamps, etc).
I am glad to see so many west coast cars/drivers making out to the other areas, thats a good thing for time attack as a sport. Hopefully when things come back to the West Coast, we will get the same amount of East Coast/Midwest drivers over here!
Congrats to Robi, Matt, Top Speed, Dieter & MFQ, James, Scott & BC Racing, and everone else who did well. Matt and MFQ are now only one win away from a perfect season points wise!

Here are the updated times from today's practice sessions:
http://www.redlinetimeattack.com/Red...isPractice.pdf
The current track record is held by AMS from last year with a 1:03.5..
Considering the weather conditions today (cool, raining, drizzly, damp, etc.), I'd expect the times to improve a decent bit tomorrow.
Also, here is a good interview with Matt Andrews, driver of the RobiSpec sponsored Mazda Miata in Modified RWD Division.
