A Stock- Evo 9 RS or 08 Sti?
I was dead set on getting an 08 sti. The only car that would stop me would be an Evo 9 RS. Sure enough found one locally. For the Price of the STi, I can get the RS (25000, around 20000 miles) fully prep for A Stock. Which would be faster, the Evo 9 RS fully preped or the 08 Sti fully Preped? I know the STickied A stock is thread on top, but has anyone tried to run an Evo 9 in A Stock?

the question really is, is an 08 STI faster then an 06-07 STI?
Nationals has shown the STI to be faster then the evo in A-stock. But I hear there are some serious throttle application problems with the 08 STI's (like turbo lag but induced from the drive by wire throttle).

I know they just had a recall on the stock tune on the 08 sti due to running lean around redline. I know the evo 8 did not have that much success on a national level, but with the extra hp on the evo 9 is it more competitive?

I believe the boys over at NABISCO said the newer 08 STi understeers slightly more but is still faster than the older models. STi are faster than EVOs in AS trim. On the local level good drivers in EVOs will beat STi drivers but in the hands of an experienced driver the STi will ultimately be faster in AS.

I'm not too plugged into Autocross anymore, but Sti's were never fast than EVO's in my area. And I personally know a handful of people who sold older STi's and bought EVO's because they were spending tons of money trying to keep up with the EVO's.
But that wasn't stock, it was with basic bolt-ons which is where the EVO is massively responsive compared to a STi.

I had 2 '05 STis. They had fantastic grunt, and rotated beautifully powering out of sharper maneuvers, but...
The steering sometimes cannot 'keep up'. In slalom or offset-intensive courses, they can be left for dead, due to not being able to turn the wheel--literally.
The Evo's steering is far superior.
When both are modded--the Evos rule...

Perhaps... but I've always thought that was due to the fact that no one with lots of commitment and really high skill has ever fully prepped and run the car extensively.
Anyone as good as J Roberts in the STi camp ever campaigned an AS Evo?
{zips up flame suit, not intending to slight any of the A-stockers on the board }

I also think that part of is by the time you drop the cash to build a great AS evo you're like 90% of the way to a great BSP/STU car. And they're SO much more fun.
