I've been experimenting with tire pressures a lot lately, running something completely different every event and went with 40F/46R today and loved it (Note: RE-01Rs). It may have been a bit much, maybe one or two less overall would be ideal, but the balance of front and rear pressures was great. I was understeering like crazy last week and a previous Evo owner told me to jack the rear up to 48. I wasn't sure if he was serious or kidding. Another Evo guy said run 6psi more in the rear than the front. I had great rotation today on stock sways. The car really felt great. We only got 2 dry runs in before the rain made the rest of the runs irrelevant, but I won the combined Street Tire class STA (Street Tire All) and PAX'd first too. I may have found the droids I'm looking for.

Congrats to Corey for holding off the STi's on the Lincoln conrete this weekend. 1 sec gap to 2nd place too.

Nice start to these season w/2 wins. He's like the Tom Berry of STU.

Yokohama got the AD08 out just in the nick of time....

The tread on their 245/40/18 measures 9.6" wide on an 18x10" wheel.

Not too much stretch on a 10... I'm glad we went with this wheel width.

We should have data logged on these soon.

I would love to hear what kind of lateral Gs you guys pull with these tires, both peak and steady state. Please do let us know ...

Smile

Granted, local (regional) competition, but my Stock ADVAN A046D (on the OEM Enkei) took the #1 PAX ranking at yesterday's event.

Harness that fits ?

I have and older harness from another car. I was checking to see if it would fit the evo, but it wont go through the seat holes. Is there a low priced option ?

I really couldnt car less about its expiration or rating, I have leather and really just want a bit more 'stick' in the seat.

TIA

If it's just to hold you in the seat better for autoX, check out the Schroth Rallye 4.

http://www.soloracer.com/rallye4.html

I'm happy with mine. One thing to note about it: Due to the holes in the Recaros and the design of the belt, It will have to be slightly disassembled in order to be removed for regular seatbelt use. If you don't mind doing and undoing one shoulder strap each event, I recommend it.

???

You don't have to disassemble them at all unless you're removing them completely between events. If you loosen all the lap and shoulder straps fully, you can fold the harness around the backside of the seat so that it doesn't interfere with stock 3-point use.

The Rallye 3/4 install just fine in the Evo X, no taking apart required. I also just flip them up and around when not in use.

I see what you're saying. I've never done that. So it's still installed and looped through the Recaro holes, just pushed around the sides to the back of the seat. I've been undoing one shoulder strap and taking it out of the seat holes and stashing it under my drivers seat with the back portion stashed under the back seat.
