Our “to do” list is probably very similar to the rest of the other Unlimited Teams.
• Temperatures’ - overall (for us it’s all about oil) and we think we have got a handle on it and will be resolved by the beginning of next week. But it is going to require a considerable amount of time and fabrication. Too bad, because we originally thought we had the hot set up (no pun intended), oh well live and learn.
• Front end geometry – or the lack of it. This front end suspension was designed to take the family to WalMart, pick up the groceries and head home. It sure as hell wasn’t intended to be out on a track north of 150mph, HP again well north of 500 and heavy, heavy G-loading. But it is the car we have chosen, so like I said suck it up and make it work. Update, we have located some of the best engineered suspension parts that we have ever come across for an Evo. The down side to this is that they have a three to four week lead time. So the clock is ticking (and we hope it is the three weeks instead of four) .
• Gear Box /Gearing – this is a big one because we are still running on a stock 5 speed Evo transmission and our gearing selection choices are VERY, VERY limited. A replacement transmission is difficult to find because there isn’t a lot of choices out there. They just aren’t as readily available and I believe it is partly because our HP is probably greater then the WRC applications. But we do have an interim plan, albeit complicated but it is better then no plan.

Maybe you can have them check this thread but in the spirit of wanting to see them compete at Autobahn with AMS:
Oil Temps: Get an uprated Oil cooler with ducting and maybe even a temperature triggered fan on the backside. I'm assuming you guys are running a Dry Sump oil system of some kind?
Front end geometry: Some sort of roll center kit such as whiteline looks promising for lowered cars. I'll let someone else chime in on actual suspension suggestions though.
Gear Box/Gearing: Check these guys out if you haven't already, there may be quite a few more gearing options if you call them directly as well. http://www.sheptrans.com/transmissions/evo.htm

I saw this car in person, the build is top notch. The cockpit adjustable roll bar set up is awesome and that under body is a work of art. This car is going to be untouchable when they sort it out.

They may be a pro team but that doesn't mean suggestions from those that also know the evo from years of experience can't discuss what they could be doing to solve the issues they listed. If they had possible solution or direction they were taking to resolve the issues I probably wouldn't have said anything. If they had it all figured out and ready to go they would be at Autobahn competing with AMS which is what I want to see.
I guess since it was just an update to a blog they weren't really "asking" for feedback on what to do. In these forums people usually discuss how to fix things, next time I'll know better. Ah well so much for trying to be helpful.
I would love to learn more about how to solve the issues they are experiencing but I guess nobody is allowed to discuss such things in these forums. :/

Ya I was cracking up too, but wanted to wait for the flame assault to begin But i'll cut him some slack, he obviously didn't know the details, but made my day none the less
On their issues, they are going to a level wayyy wayy waaayyyyyy above and beyond anything we've ever seen on here, and prolly ever will. For example on their tranny, when they say stock, they mean a heavily modified "evo" transmission. What they're looking for is the one-off WRC-level developed transmissions...as in from scratch by compnay X and nothing OEM or mitsubishi, even the paint

I'm sure your advice is better but I don't see you offering any... ah wait, the oil filter thingy for an oil change.

My bad, long night of OT took it's toll so I completely missed the joking around thing.
They are going to be a handfull to compete against but according to the info on the blog site they are skipping the next event to sort everything out and show up at 100%.

Pectel is a part of AER (advanced engine research) who powered the LMP MG lola i drove in 2002/2003... and it works... crazy system... and the guys there know their stuff. I spent lots of time after each stint in the car working with them on engine mapping etc, which is were we started to get into the EVO stuff and 2 liter forced induction tuning.
Cheers

Pectel is NOT part of AER.
There have been many copies if you look around that actually use old Pectel software and hardware to form their brand of ECUs, but Pectel is part of the Cosworth group. Same thing with Pi Research and Performance Wiring Solutions.
http://www.cosworth.com/Default.aspx
Pectel and Pi make a wide range($ to $$$$) of loggers and ECUs. Cosworth is now selling an STi ECU as well. Which would make me think based upon their past E2 and C2 ECUs, they will be making an EVO X ecu as well.
To whoever is running pots and load cells, have you thought about laser ride heights. I know the Pi ones are in fact are a great unit.

Detail
Glad to see someone (good job Electronics) is paying attention to the detail and then back it up with facts. We have laser ride height as well as telemetry and strain gauges on this car, just haven't had the time to get it all working. That is the world that we came from and we will have this enabled very soon. There is just more to do and not enough time to get everything working as of yet.

Hey Dennis, we met and spoke a few years back at the buttonwillow time attack. gray evo garaged next to a really outrageous blue rx7 that was in some stage of meltdown.
Fantastic results, I hope you eventually take it to the Japanese and the Brits.
Good luck.
