What you want to watch for is actual cracks especially stemming down from the tops. Then replace immediately.
SP Performance slotted rotors. They're coming off the car before my next event. The odd color is because of an led flashlight and my crappy phone camera (sorry). If you look at the 2nd one, check out the slot at the very bottom and see the crack coming off of it - each of these 'vanes' looks to have a crack coming from it now.

Older pic of stock rotors; with just pad transfer deposits on them.

Yes thanks for the pics, they look just like mine. I'll be curious to know how you make out with the new 'blanks'.

I had the single piece rotors on the car for a full racing season on TT and AX..plus some playing, ( road course events) and all the street driving for a year and 1/2. The back rotors are still on the car for this season..(I only changed the fronts for the upgrade to the 2 piece rotors.) The rotors (one piece) do not show much wear at all !! ZERO discoloration-ZERO cracks etc. I only used the RB pads 600/700/800/900 compounds. I stuck with the 800 compound as I didn't have to change them to track or AX the car and they work really well. And when doing the testing for the improved compounds(2 piece fronts-one piece rears) I really pounded the pads to see what would happen when you REALLY overheated them over and over..like 4 20 min sessions of 140 ish braking as hard as I could every time at the end of the straightaway at NJMP lightning. I killed a set of 700's at Shenandoah last year in 2 sessions because of overheating the pads and the ONE piece rotors(front and rear then) are still fine..they pulled me off track as the fronts were on fire..yep, real flames..I told the safety steward.."Tire warmers"..he was NOT impressed. if you push the RB two piece they will check, but I'm of the opinion a little checking is normal on a heavy car.

Agreed. I've run three different types of rotors and all do this. If you drive a heavy car hard enough... you're bound to.

I can't remember what the hawk guy said my rotor temps were. I'm thinking the 400F range.
