Head and neck restraints

After using a Hans, Defender and an R3 i am still not sure what one i want to invest my money into.

What one do you guys like more? Have you bought or do you rent?

I would have to say at this point that the Defender has been my favorite due to the bigger lip up top for the harnesses. The Hans i really had no complaints about. The R3 i really don't like how you can not take it off as one piece along with your helmet. But Safe Drives does rent to own on the R3 witch really helps out the pocket book.

Opinions? Thoughts?

Well, remember, they do make HANS belts that taper down to 2 inch... I'm going to be running one on my side of the car, and probably your side too... But they work with Hans/Defender/R3.

And damn... I meant to check the defender out.

HANS has great variety of comfy parts to make it much more comfortable for the driver...

Having just tested the Hutchins Hybrid Rage at Rally Colorado in a 60mph 4 roll crash...I love my Hybrid. But on the other hand my co-driver was wearing a Hans and had no complaints either and we both walked away
Fitment wise I like the Hybrid better as the Hans puts too much pressure on my shoulders. The not being able to take it all off at once hasn't really been an issue for me.

I can't comment on how comfortable each one is, but as mentioned above their are Hans specfic belts that make the belts fit like a 3" on the Defender. Schroth makes a 3" shoulder w/ 2" Hans belt integrated into the same belt

One benefit to the hutchins one (IIRC) is that it can be used in other cars without the special harnesses required. This is a must if you're an instructor or move cars frequently.
