How Much Rear Wing Riser Height for APR GTC300 ??

Hi,

I've got an Evo VIII track car. I'm running it with suspension, engine and tranny mods. I have an APR front splitter and just got an APR GTC300 61" wing, because I need more rear downforce.

To be honest, at its 12" (or so) riser height it does not seem nearly high enough, and no where near the roof line.

What has been YOUR experience for recommended wing heights for the Evo for track use???

Thanks

Even at the hight of that wing, downforce is still noticable, but I'm pretty sure that APR has extension that you can add to bring it higher. I don't think it's needs to go up higher, but you can do that if you have to

They have a "gt500" which is right at the roofline I think.

GTC300 and GTC500 are both the same riser height.

The car is getting loose on medium and high speed corners.
I can't take corners "fast", of course, it's 3250# w/o driver.

(Then again, I got used to tracking a Diasio this past season.)

They do exist I had looked for them years ago but in the end never got them. Looking around again I'm not seeing them on the usual sites. I would contact someone like driveline motoring or any of the main shops that carry APR and they should be able to get it for you. The GTC 300 is a 3D wing meant to work in "dirty" air....raising it up closer to the roof line may/may not make it perform better.

What tracks are you running? Down force settings depend on track layout. Dial in the wrong amount, and you will go slower.

You are correct on the wing being designed to work in "dirty" air since its a 3D designed wing. APR developed it to work just below the roof line and racing it up above the roof line actually hurts its performance a bit.

APR discontinued the GTC-300 wing risers and no longer makes or offers them.

I found that out when looking for risers on my Evo 8 with GTC-300 wing. I actually just ordered a GTC-300 wing for my Evo X and should have mine on soon

If you a bigger/ taller wing to sit above the roof line then Kognition would be the wing I would pick. Its designed to perform better in cleaner air.

If you need someone familiar with APR wing elements that can fabricate custom risers, contact Rick Jung at Ciro Racing. He is on this forum as well, and has made some very nice products.

That just means you never pushed the car hard enough to need aero grip. Robi is a great guy but even he can't defeat physics....
