Official 2010 Formula One Discussion F1

No disrespect, but that's just ridiculous. F1 is not little league baseball where every kid gets a chance to play. If you bring a faster car to Saturday qualifying, then you should have every opportunity to run quicker times than everyone else, and take your well earned place at the front of the grid. If it results in parade laps where you're pulling away from the field, then that's on the competition to step up and change that for the next race.
Guys have not even been able to get a clean lap in Q3 before. It's going to happen regardless unless you want 5 car grids. Someone is always going to get blocked at some point and it's going to cost them positions. It's part of qualifying, it's part of racing.
How many other times does a guy coming out of the pits warming up tires block a guy on a hot lap. It happens, It's RACING for crying out loud. The best teams/drivers will still win, it will just be a little tougher.
And without all the rule changes and gimmicks.

well to keep all the cars together you have to eliminate all the corners and have oval like nascar. Its not about fast cars or slow cars, once you hit traffic its very hard to make your way back to the front.

Listen, traffic happens even with 18 car grid in qualifying, because every car on the grid is trying to create space to run. You are STILL going to get caught with traffic whether there are 18 or 30 cars. By the time you get to Q3 it's still going to be the faster cars with maybe 1-2 guys getting caught out by not getting a clean lap.

You're just proving my point. If 18 is already a hinderance to people making unimpeded qualifying laps, then 30 is going to make it infinitely worse. With 18, most of the time the faster cars aren't getting screwed out of a solid qualifying run, but with 30 cars on track at the same time you can flat out guarantee at least one or two of the quicker cars getting knocked out in Q1 because they couldn't get a clean run. That's simply unacceptable. And...Qualifying is not RACING! That's done on Sunday remember?! I for one want to see Schumacher, Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton, etc. battling each other instead of getting stuck towards the back of the grid and fighting to pass guys like Trulli, who are only good at blocking, just so they can maybe have a run at the podium positions towards the end of the race. Just my opinion.

New Teams: Name change and Possibility
With USF1 gone:
Campos Meta 1= Hispania Racing (HRT F1) with Senna and Chandhok as drivers; Lopez may get seat as test driver/reserve, poor bas...rd...he got screwed big time by USF1.
Stefan GP appears to have Villeneuve with Nakijima as second although there may be a money issue that determines this last seat. In addition, Stefan's utilization of USF1's slot is still up in the air; yes, they have moved their cars/equipment to Bahrain and are supposedly ready to go but there are some real problems: (1) the FOA teams (concurence needed) are still concerned over the readyness and safety of the last few new teams and some are highly concerned over the amateurish nature of the whole selection process with the "Stefan method of selection" being a new wrinkle and (2) Stefan is rumored to be using the "old" Toyota engines rather than the Cosworth engine, a stipulation for the new teams entry which precluded some of the earlier entrants. In short, the forces against entry are greater than for entry. What is clear, a decision has to be made in less than two weeks regarding Stefan's immediate future.

Also, for example, would you have the top 10 finishers of each heat advance, or would it be top 20 lap times combined from the two heats? I'd prefer the top finishers from each heat to advance, since the 2nd heat will almost always have better track conditions.....assuming no rain.

The league name is EvoM. You do need need a password to join the league.
Start an account on there, then create a team. After you have created your team you can place that team in our league.

The FIA have announced the final entry list for the 2010 season, with USF1 and Stefan GP the noticeable absentees.
USF1 boss Ken Anderson admitted on Wednesday that the team had requested that their entry be deferred to 2011, so it comes as no surprise that the Charlotte-based team are not on the list.
With USF1's impending doom long foreshadowed, it appeared that the Serbian team Stefan GP had maneuvered themselves into a position to fill the gap left by USF1, but despite their best efforts the FIA have decided against replacing USF1.
"Having considered the various options, the FIA confirms that it is not possible for a replacement team to be entered for the Championship at this late stage," the FIA said in a statement.
"In the coming days the FIA will announce details of a new selection process to identify candidates to fill any vacancies existing at the start of the 2011 season."
The FIA also confirmed that the BMW Sauber team will retain the 'BMW' in their name despite parting ways with the manufacturer. Campos Meta's name change to HRT F1 was also given the rubber stamp
