Agreed that Rossi would be a good "Rookie" for USF1, but then who would fill the role as the veteran?

And he has signed a three year deal! So this is no one year publicity stunt, he's in it to win another championship (or three!)

Why is it the darkside? Because it's not in a red car? Schumi won all 7 World Titles working with Ross Brawn, it was the logical move for him. Not to mention the fact that Ferrari's push to have 3car teams didn't work. How else was he going to get back on the grid?

The dark side is Ferrari's biggest rival in F1..........Mercedes.

Like Jordan coming back from retirement to the Pistons, or like Favre to the Vikin....... oh wait.

McLaren is Ferrari's biggest rival, not Mercedes.
And who wouldn't want to drive for thier "home team" ?

Marco Andretti maybe, but no NASCAR driver is gonna make the cut in F1.
Juan Pablo Montoya? The Nascar experiment hasn't gone great for him, so why not jump back into F1 where he can compete at the pinnacle of motorsports without a ton of pressure to at least finish on the podium like he had to deal with at McLaren?!?! Because lets be honest, USF1 will be lucky to place a driver in the top 8 at any race this year with the top 8 spots being filled most of the time by Red Bull's, Ferrari's, Mercedes's, and McLaren's. Those 4 teams are just going to be scary strong compared to the rest of the field.

They were, a while ago. I applied with a "I'm-a-engineering-doctoral-student-super-geek. Willing to sweep floors" letter. No response.

I wonder if Nick Heidfeld would consider signing with US F1. There are not too many driver spots left entering 2010...

i was keeping faith for Sauber to sign Heidfeld, but it's looking like PDLR is all but confirmed according to swiss media.

hoping Heidfeld gets a seat in a capable car.

I think JPM would be a good choice, but I don't think he is the "American" that USF1 is looking for.
