As of yesterday, Windsor says "starting date" is 1/24-25/10 whatever that means.

Later, Ken

Jose Maria Lopez is the first driver for USF1. Lopez got enough money from a private sponsor as well as the Argentine govt. to secure the spot. What is interesting here is Nick Heidfield, a much more experienced driver, did not secure a seat but will test drive for Mercedes. Reason, U ask? He had no sponsors that were willing to fork over the bucks. Bottom line: For the new teams of F 1 in '10', $$$ each driver can provide appears to be more important than experience.

I wouldn't be surprised if both of there drivers came from South America. At least they got one signed though, its a step in the right direction.

Damn just think about it. If you would hit $$100mil jackpot, yesterday you were racing your Evo on local track, tomorrow you could be an F1 driver ...

Gotta play lotto, I may still get into F1

So.....how many GP's will take place this season before one of these drivers that bought their way into the sport gets their super license revoked for too many stupid infractions on the track with competitive drivers/teams? I'm guessing 3 or 4. How about you guys?

Don't know, but from my understanding it's not as difficult as you'd expect it would be to get one. You just have to place high enough often enough in one of the feeder series's, and you're golden.

New guy here...

This whole USF1 team is disappointing. I know that it to be expected that they will underperform but it would be nice to at least have a good team from the US for once.

Has anybody heard anything about this supossed Russian group that wants to buy up Toyota? Word is that the Russian group has a bank load of cash and is looking to start testing a car....even without a spot on the grid. When asked about testing without a spot on the grid, they are saying that they want to bea ready to go when USF1 falls out. I'm hearing all this second hand from a former Ferrari F1 Engineer.

Yes, one of the current teams would have to drop out for another new team to enter. I would guess it would be Campos rather than USF1 since they are worst off financially speaking. Petrov is a Russian driver that has $mills sponsorship behind him; I do not know how good a driver he is though.

I know that he has one due to the fact that he has been i test driver in the past.

But the FIA has kept blocking Loabs path to one.
