i just put ad08's on my evo and let me tell you these things grip like no other i've ran R comps before and a lot of tires but for a street tire i think these are better than NT01s like previously mentioned. yokohama are expensive but damn are they worth it lol i get a good deal on them if you are interested...

AD08s are a street tire and the NT01 is an rcomp. While I think that that AD08 is a pretty bad butt street tire, it is not an r-comp. It's also a pretty dang pricey street tire too.

That's why AD08 are bad ***. They're not even DOT-R, but they are fast, if not faster than DOT-R tires.

I can't say they are faster than NT01 because I don't have field tested data. Just google AD08. A few magazines wrote reviews on it saying they are amazing track tires.

There is no reason, AT ALL, to get any R-comp other than one designed for suto-x. you will not heat them up properly and you will be slower than on street tires. Especially with your severely limited experience. Get a good set of street tires, run them for half a season, then go to V710's or A6's.

Open and shut, as someone already said. do not waste your time and money doing anything else.

I run R1's for a mix and match of events. Even cold they are tons stickier than a street tire. But I agree if autox is your game then get a tire that is best suited for it.

R-comps aren't going to cover up mistakes when autoxing. You're driving the car and it will do what you tell it to do. If anything I suggest running the best tire you can so you can learn its characteristics and get even faster.

Errr... what? Do you have definitive data to back this up?

AD08s may surpass a few of the lower tier Rcomps on short Autox courses where the Rs cannot come up to temp, but even the lower tier Rcomps will produce more grip than the best street tires.

I do agree that the gap between the two is closing with the current crop of top tier street tires, but AD08s are not as fast and certainly not faster than DOT-Rs.

The top tier street tires can definately be faster on a well set-up and driven car than any NT01, R888, etc. Trust me, there are many guys who have tried it in our region, where we have both short and long courses. Its not worth it to waste money on these Rcomps, stick with street tires until you want to step all the way up to an actual auto-x tire, or at the very least run C51's, R1's, or R6's

Im referring to the fact that the Rcomps produce more peak grip once they are up to their optimal operating temperatures.

I absolutely agree that certain Street tires can outpace the lower Rcomps on single lap Autox courses.

I do not, however, believe that it is correct to say the following in a definitive manner:

That's why AD08 are bad ***. They're not even DOT-R, but they are fast, if not faster than DOT-R tires.
