Mitsubishi Motors North America Withdraws from SCCA ProRally in 2004 (MERGE)

It has everything to do with lack of cash. Mitsu is in the toilet as far as the company goes, and they are trying to save money any way they can. Mitsu had $740 million in losses for the first half of the year, and while the ProRally season is a drop in the bucket compared to that, it IS money that could be saved.
Most of those losses were due to their dumb don't make any payments program. People got cars that couldn't afford them, and when the time came to pay, they just defaulted on the loans.

Pepe, if you run a motorcar corporation and you're facing financial instability (flat out trouble) what's the first thing you cut? Jobs, marketing or motorsports teams?

Good for Mitsu...
i think that SCCA( Spoiled Children Crashing Automobiles) need to take a look at them selves. Rally in general. With all the spectator deaths this year and with the death of the Lovel team this year at Oregon. i dont blame them for leaving. i've been to many of the Rallys the past two years and im sad to to see how poorly it is run. there were rumors flying around that many of the rallys wont be held next year because of all the dangers that they pose, no one would give them insurance.
Hopefully Mitsu will be back in WRC and HIT HARD!!! We can only wait till the first rally in Spring to find out.
