VS Motorsports first Time Attack!
We were able to make it to the Redline Time Attack event at Autobahn Country Club this past weekend. This event was only the second time our Evo time attack car has ever been on the track. There was a lot of excitement to get the car on the track after such a long build. Also our driver Kris Von Sydow who is owner of VS Motorsports second time with an awd turbo car. Knowing that we needed the most track time we could get to set up the car.
The first day, Saturday for us went fairly good we ran into problems with an exhaust leak that caused us to lose power and a rear brake line bursted. With the help of a local company at the track they able to make a custom brake line or else our weekend could have ended way too early. The line got put on and did not cause us any lost track time. Our best time that day ended up being 131. 002 which was good for the second best time of the day behind the Cobb GTR.
Sunday we fixed the exhaust leak, but had some bad luck during the qualifying. Our rear wheel bearing went out, along with the front axle which is aftermarket but still failed on the second time at the track. However we still managed to pull a 130.283 so our time improved to just shy of 129. We thought our day was going to come to and end but one of our friends dropped his evo off for us to pirate parts from. We ended up needing a new front axle, rear axle, and rear wheel bearing. We missed the first time attack because of that and got it done for the second. Right before the second time attack it rained and they canceled the last session. It was disappointing after all that work we were not able to make it out but there was still the super session.
We were only able to make the super session which was on a very slick wet track. That ended early due to a crash on the front straight from a turbo miata and a mazda that made it on top of the tire barrier . When the session ended early we were first in the Super modified class which is awesome but we wish there was more time to keep racing. It is a lot of fun racing the car wheel to wheel and hopefully we will with NASA.
Overall it was a fun weekend and for our first time with redline time attack and the first event with evo. It was a great event and definitely a change from the usually SCCA events we race in. Next time we should do even better once we make a few changes to get full boost earlier and run full slicks next time.
Even though we were not able to make it out during a time attack a good customer and friend won the drift class in his supercharged E46 M3 ahead of an e92 supercharged m3 by 2 seconds! Our customers time of 139.812 was actually fast enough to win the street RWD and Modified but his car was considered too low that is why he was in drift. Congrats to Stefan on the drift class win.
Thanks For the Picture Fortune Auto

They had a bar to measure how low the cars can be for the street tire class and the front bumper was too close to the ground. Instead of not letting him race they put in the drift class with E92 M3 that had the same issue.

You crazy *****. mad props to Krys for going out there for the super session.
it was good seeing you guys out there. the car looks very well prepped. can't wait to see how the car performs after your refresh.
that was the craziest super session ever!!! luckily you guys were up front to avoid all the craziness that was behind you. that miata demolished the timing equipment after slamming the guard rail right under the flagman at the start/finish line. a minute later that mazda crossover launched over the hay bails and onto the guard rail, teeter tottering on it.

Thanks! Your car was definitely flying out there. Wished the rain would have held off for a second session to see if the record could have been broken.
