Devin's Redline Time Attack Experience @ Autobahn, Joliet, IL
Over the past 2 years I've been getting a constant stream of road racing / time attack customers. To better serve them I decided to start doing some TA of my own while I'm waiting for the trans to come back. I decided it was time to competed in the Redline TA event at the Autobahn in Joliet June 12-13 with my fiance's DD Evo IX. I had a blast and made some new friends while learning some valuable info that will in turn help my customers. And I'm very pleased with the results!!
I spent the first day learning a course I hadn't been on, and making some small adjustments. But by the end of Day 1 I ran a 1:40.793, which wasn't bad, but I didn't reach my goal of breaking the track record in the Enthusiast AWD class just yet . There was still another day of fun ahead while dodging more storms.
In preparation for Day 2, one of the adjustments that I had to make was with the brakes, which were toast after Day 1. But after getting a new set of CL pads from the guys at Touge (thanks guys for all your help!!), I was back and ready to tear it up for Day 2. I continued to improve my lap times, and by the end of the practice sessions, I qualified in second with a time of 1:39.451, which would've been good for a new track record for my class, but first place was .6 seconds ahead of me.
Unfortunately the rain came back and kept me from improving my times for the 2nd qualifiying session, but that still didn't keep me from having some fun
I'm happy with my 2nd place finish in the Enthusiast AWD class, and can't wait for next year!!
Enthusiast - AWD Class
1st place in a (Evo VIII) AYTINC AKAD
2nd place in my (Evo IX) DEVIN SCHULTZ
3rd place in a (Evo X) MARTIN MUSIAL
Thanks again to all the guys at Touge for your help!
The DSM/Evo Shootout is next, and my Talon will be there for sure!!
