Question about AutoX classes
NEWB ALERT
I am thinking about competing in some hillclimb events next year and need some help. From what I am told are organized using AutoX rules (might be normal, not sure). From what I have read my car is only legal (regardless of turbo) in Street Modified or above? If that is correct thats fine, I figured out minimum weight and all that. Not going to be racing with the 3586 though....least for awhile.
I will be dropping to a small stock appearing turbo most likely, 275 R comps, add aero, and use my existing suspension setup.
thanks
Aaron

If you mod anything between the intake manifold and turbo then you're bumped to SM. That includes porting (anything more than 1" for port match), WG actuator modifications, cams, displacement or compression changes...etc. SM is completely open motor-wise. Pretty much the only thing to worry about getting bumped out of SM is chassis mods other than an 8pt cage, missing interior panels (doesn't mean whats under it cant be removed though), and changed fixed location suspension mounting points (inboard points).
If the car doesn't have full interior panels forward of the driver then you get bumped into prepared, and if you still have the 2.4L then you cant run prepared and get bumped to modified.

SM looks like my type of rule book. I wont have a stock motor in a racecar I want to test the smaller turbos on my current build and also add a restrictor for our rally testing. I couldnt think of a better avenue than a hillclimb since I wont take the car offroad....till its paid for anyway

The great thing about a 9 though is you can hit that magical 400/400 mark and still stay in SP. I'm pretty excited about the jump to SP from SM so I can attempt to compete in PAX against all our Stock class national champions. Not gonna win much against them of course, but my yardstick sure will shorten
