I don't believe it would be the same case on a bigger track like Watkins Glen were you would see greater % full throttle.
Now that got me thinking. When I was at Road Atlanta (serious Hp track) with MVP track time they ran full 20 minute sessions. And if I went out and really got after it for 20 minutes I went through almost 1/2 a tank on 93. So even on pump gas, a 45 minute race might be iffy on the stock tank.

I need to get me a Traq Mate, but I would not be surprised if I spent 70% or more of the time WOT at RA.

It's about 68% for me in TTA (C5Z) on a ***** out lap. VIR is about 62%. It wouldn't take much downforce to be above 70% at RA.

It's also a few % pts higher in the summer with the motors are bogged down, lower % in the winter when the motors are making 40 more hp.

Most FI cars I'm behind, my eyes are watering from the exhaust, they'd need 30 gallon tanks to run 45 mins

Justin when are you gonna come down to RA and run ST2?

One route to take is to go to full slick, down in power, which in that range we can make on 93 all day long. Question then becomes how much knock protection do you get pound for pound with Sunoco or VPower Vs going to something like 94 or 98. Is the cost difference really give you peace of mind or are you crazy. Like a few others said, the slicks will go faster, last longer, at the rate the Evo uses tires it may not be a bad choice. You'd experience less wear and tear on the motor, but other things like bearings, brakes, brain matter would go out quicker..

Do you race also or just compete in TTA?

Gamer joke, or for anyone who plays RPG's.

But back on topic. So Buel for the hoho slicks you have run, what cold/hot pressures did you find worked? I've been hearing start at 20 cold, 30 hot?

Basically in that range. And Hoosier recommends you increase your hot pressures on banked tracks by about 2psi.

Why? Element Tuning STI goes out on ~20 psi on Hoosier slicks. The R100s take a couple laps to really come in though.

Seems a couple of the fast ST-2 Vettes that run A's start them around 20 psi.

Youll be fine. Ive started them lower than that a few times. Do a couple accelerate/brake exercises on your warmup lap and youll be good to go. After the race youll notice the sidewalls were scrubbed in, dont worry about it because that will only happen on the warmup. To minimize it avoid swerving side to side when the tires are cold.

I did a year of TT in '03 with another group. I started running w/ NASA in TTA in '09. I started in PTA at the start of '11. I flip between TT and W2W.

Nice thing about PTA is you can go run ST2 whenever you want (same power/weight and same tire size adjustments).

If you are ST2, you can't go run PTA.

Have you been driving your C5Z all this time?

Do you have any input on any of this? Or anything about the C5Z? And if you dont mind, what are the specs on your car? Like whats your competition weight, tire size/compound, whp, and anything else you think is noteworthy?

Ed - if you'd have come to Nationals you'd know all this! The 'Spec C5Z' is no doubt the ringer for TTA; has been for a few years at least. We've got some quick ones in the MW/GL regions, and there's a host of them (drivinhard included) in the SE region that run like Road Atlanta a bunch.

Most run the 275 A6; and I guarantee they're all right on the legal power/weight limit because it's easy to get there with their insanely low comp weight! Some run the 255 A6 and suspension. That's pretty much your choice. Some do intake; some do bars; some do exhaust.

I've been discussing exactly this for years! I think 9 of the 14 cars in TTA at Nationals were C5Z's. The MW/GL 'home' region I'm in swept the TTA podium; myself and 2 C5Z's.
