APR GTC-300 or GTC-500 wing?
I've been looking around quite a bit to find what other people are doing, but I'm picking up a bunch of APR aero finally, including a front splitter, canards and a GT wing. I looked in detail at the airflow/downforce data on the wings but I'm still not sure which wing is right for my car. I have a stock body Evo running on 18x9 rims with intended eventual power levels around the 500 whp mark (sitting at just over 400 atm on 93 octane).
The three options for the wings are GTC-300 61 inches, GTC-300 67 inches, and GTC-500 70 inches. Will the GTC-500 be ludicrously too large on a stock body Evo? What wings are other folks who do road racing using?

Some people are running the 200; I don't know many running anything else. I have a friend with an S2000 that runs the 300.
Personally, I ran the 200 with extended risers and could NOT tell a difference over stock. It's kinda worthless to us imo. I then mounted on the 68" Kognition wing and holy front lift batman! It's a solid unit at a really good price. I also shopped DHP and Aeromotions but both were considerably more expensive.

the GTC-500 doesn't make as much downforce as the GTC-300 at the speeds you'll be driving. its really build for extremely highspeed cars. looking at the CFD numbers they have it shows forces up to 180mph. also the GTC-200 is quite a bit smaller then the GTC-300 (creates about half the downforce).

Wow, that Kognition wing is pretty sweet... they also have a chassis mount option which is really nice as well... hmmm. Boomn29, you have the 67'' Kognition in that picture? It looks fantastic on your Evo.

don't pick your wing based off your speed down the straight though, you want the optimal downforce at the average speed in turns. of course you need to take into consideration the drag from the wing, but i'm certain most of us are not drag limited at any track
my guess is most turns you'll be making are around 40-100mph (i'm sure you should have some data logs of GPS/speed around the track). pick your wing based on that range, not the top speed on a given track.

I just saw it on their facebook wall, I think you just need to call in to order within those dates and the discount will apply.

I am seriously tempted to get the Kognition wing now... it looks awesome, has 20% off, and the data looks pretty promising:
GTC-300 67'' wing (120 mph 10 degree AOA) 457.5 lbs downforce 51.68 drag
Kognition 67'' wing (120 mph 10 degree AOA) 386 lbs downforce 37.2 drag
Kognition 67'' wing (120 mph 16 degree AOA) 458 lbs downforce 52 drag
It looks like they are very comparable and similar in price (before the sale). Going to give Kognition a call as soon as they open.

The Kognition wing is the real deal imo. And it's at a good pricepoint. If I jump classes next year; it's going back on the car with a proper front splitter for sure.

I thought it was a 68" span. It's just a little narrower than the car. You have to drill 1 extra hold in the trunk to mount it if that matters. Let me say that at the lowest setting of 7 degrees it dominated the stock wing! I actually found another setting - well manipulated - for 2.5 degrees and it was still more downforce than the stocker. Keep in mind...... I didn't run a front splitter with this wing. It's needed!

I will be running the APR front air dam and front air splitter with canards as well as this wing. The splitter will be mounted to the chassis to reduce flex. Hopefully that will give me enough anti-lift to take full advantage of the new wing. Thanks so much for the posts!
