Blackenedwings '06 IX MR build thread



All work on the Evo has been done exclusively by Agile Automotive Performance in Bel Air, MD. It won NE regional championship for NASA TT2 in 2014.

Update 10/14/20: Car has been daily driven for the last two years. Just had the driveshaft replaced, and new Cusco rear diff.

Yup, thats the plan. I just have to watch the power/weight ratio so I don't get bumped into TTU. I also want to run Real Time Attack.

You are probably already over the limit if you run anything over a 245mm tire. I've just begun competing in TT with NASA and part of the fun is trying different set ups, enjoy the ride!!

I was just looking at Kid's thread thinking that I should make a thread about my car, then I saw yours, you beat me to the punch! There is a lot of knowledge here in the Motorsports forum, make sure that you take advantage of it.. Good luck next season!!

Absolutely! Thanks for the feedback! I'm really excited to get back on the track. A couple of my friends will be running HPDEs and autox with me this year so its sure to be a good time.

Did you swap out 6 speed before it blew?

Also what fluids do you run in your tranny now?

What rates do you run on your KW's?

Cool man. My 6-spd blew very early on, but I suspect that was due more to the previous owners abuse than my driving. It only lasted a couple of track days before the collar between 3rd-4th went. I went to a Shep 5-spd and I've never looked back. I love the Shep trans... definitely one of my favorite mods on the car. The only negative is turn 10 on Summit Main (my home track) is tricky to take with my current gearing. I didn't have the aero to take the turn in 5th over 4k rpms, and to drop into 4th under redline after the bridge required me to brake a lot harder than I wanted so I was losing massive speed down the front straight. With the 6-spd I was easily able to take turn 10 in 5th in full boost netting me 145 mph down the front straight even in traffic. I'm hoping with the new aero changes I can take turn 10 in 5th with the new trans while in full boost to carry more speed.

Trans fluid I think is Amsoil, and the rates on the KWs are going to be changed for this season. I need to chat with Hill about the recommended rates. He's running the same coilovers on his badass WRX.

At John's advice I got the trans built with Evo IX 1st/5th & Evo VIII 3rd/4th. They share 2nd gear between models. It has a stock final drive. I got the REM ISF coating also.

Nice set-up. I love to see cars from HoCo.

Are you still running the stock manifold? That and the BB-BBK-B should net you a serious power increase on 93, built motor or not.

Thanks man! I am running a stock manifold, but I could easily make the swap to E85 right now and pick up a bunch more power, plus the 2.5'' HKS downpipe is choking my setup a bit as well. I'm pretty happy with the power level for the moment though. We'll see how it goes with the new aero pieces.

Thanks, the injectors have done great and came highly recommended by Agile. I'll need to go significantly larger when I go to E85, but I won't do that until next season.

Is there another E85 station you know of in the area besides the one by Ft Meade?

There are a few in the area supposedly including a couple in Annapolis, but the Fort Meade location is extremely convenient for me and since the government fleet uses it, the supply should stay available.
