I almost bought a 20ft enclosed trailer with a Honda generator, guy sold it out from under me.
I've never really had the need for power that my truck couldn't supply though. I have an electric impact for wheel removal, and a 10 gallon air tank that I fill to 120psi before I leave home, which is plenty for playing with tire pressures. I haven't done any events that end up with me in the pits after dark though. Except for the last one when the wheel fell off, it took a while to recover the car from the side of the track...lol

Too many lessons learned for me. Batt too flat wouldn't start, now charging between sessions. Impact batt too low to break lugs, charging. GoPro/Radio batt's, charging when I can cause those have died. Lights to see wth your doing during a time change weekend and an 8am qualifying, now a must. A/C cause the wife and dogs come out, now a must. Fans to cool the car in pits cause reg fans flatten battery, now a must. Goes on and on. When I got the enclosed it's got 2 halo lights externally and fluorescent internally with a 30a plug which i've normally had at tracks but now they've decided to rip them out instead of charge us for them....lack of common sense boggles the mind.

Thinking about 2x 2000w Yamaha's with the 30a parallel plug in some box on the tongue frame with one of my jugs plumbed in the middle? It's either that or a larger one in 1 bigger box.

True, I don't race, so other than tire rotations and failures, my car doesn't get touched at the track excpet to check the oil and put fuel in it lol. It also cools down sufficiently on cool down laps to not need fans in he pits.

Seems silly for tracks to take power out. Unless people were using it and not paying.

Traded in my old(new silverado) for a 4x4(Chicago winters + wife driving) with more ideal gearing. Now can tow 9800 lbs. Will probably still get an aluminum trailer once its in the budget.

Hopefully this year is my year. But I've already missed the first NASA weekend

Careful with those thinner wall tires if you get up to that weight. Alum open won't be more then 4500 with the car, but at 9800 you'll need a D-load or E-load setup.

Yeah I dont expect to approach that weight. But its nice to be able to. These are factory wheels and tires so I would expect as is it will permit max towing though.

nah, the 1/2 ton trucks pretty much all come with p-rated (passenger) tires. They'll tow 10k lbs just fine.

If there is one thing we know how to make in this country, its pickup trucks.

I'd probably have your reaction after being passed by a C7 at full song. Or listening to one with fat cam idling.

In my experience, no way in hell I would recommend that to anyone. Heat and pressure are no different in truck tires then race tires. Ask any 24+ hauler and see if they're on 4 ply and amount of weight behind ya. It's like saying all seasons work for a 30 min session at ~500hp ~full weight and have no affect on the tire. Esp if your half ton, with no air bags, OR weight distro to help. While it may say 10k lbs in stock form, it's not for long, or safely. All these open trailers? Sure. 5k lbs is night and day.

ahhhhh seriously ...sometimes I sit back with a beer and just dream of being in the states, I'd have something monstrous like a 6.5 litre diesel pick up with double stacks that blows massive plumes of black smoke, no more then a 2 seater, have it jacked up with monster truck under carriage, couple of pump action shot guns in racks between the seats, giant spot lights overhead, I also want to carry a 9mil glock and a 357 magnum strapped to my leg just in case .... and YES JUST BECAUSE I CAN and my favourite song will be cranked up full volume in my 1000 watt boom box will be Dennis Leary - I'm an a$$hole :-P
