New Hankook Ventus TD Opinions?

Hankook just released a new tire called the Ventus TD, VentusTD.com

I was thinking about getting a set since the prices aren't too bad compared to NT01's or especially yoko AD08's. but I wanted you guy's opinions? have you guys driven on Semi slicks and what are you opinions? These would be for my spare set of track Enkei's that i don't use daily. I have RS-3s on them currently which work great but im really curious to see what i can pull off with semi slicks.

Speed ventures has an event this weekend at Buttonwillow that i might even grab these for, thanks for the opinions guys!

UTQG 80, Semi-Slick, decent price.

I didn't read the comparison, but it doesn't sound bad. With an 80 tw, it's going after the NT01, R888, RA1 market. And it looks kinda like the Toyo R888 if I had to pick one.

If it's better than the RS3, then I gotta believe it'll be a solid choice from what I've seen people run on those. Beyond that; either have to find someone that buys them or buy them yourself to find out!

this needs to come in at 100+ utqg to really fit into classing in the current west coast time attack series. there is usually an under 100 rule which means this tire basically competes with a c91 theoretically

That is a very good point, i usually go to HPDE days with local organizations but competing in a Time Attack was something i wanted to do in the future. Hmm.....

Actually there's usually a breakpoint at 100 and another at 50.

The 50 keeps the R6/A6's, C91/C71/C51's, BFG R1 and GY RS all by themselves. That's how NASA does it too.

This doesn't make much sense. Same price as a hoosier R6/A6 in comparable size, with the hoosier being wider even in the H20 compound, and the price difference to the nitto is huge, 275 NT01 is 249, 265 TD is 330.....this sounds full of fail to me. If there was a spec class or series where you had to run 50+ for say time attack maybe, but really how many are still doing that. Most of the market for 100 range tires are for DE's/practice/street tire for fairly illegal cars, or even rain tires sometimes, whos gonna spend 80 bucks more PER tire over the NT01 for that, or could spend the same amount for a hoosier wet tire and be 2 seconds quicker in wet racing conditions.

hey you're right. i've been out so long they've actually changed the tire rules for nasa.
and global time attack has dropped their cuttoff number to 50.
i looks like this actually will be the tire to be on.

btw nasa still keeps c91's and a6 separate from c51/71 and r6's

ps. who the hell is running a bfg r1 against a c91 lol
someone at bfg must have really pissed jerry off to be thrown in that class haha

Wasn't a compound decision, it was an actual width vs stamped width decision for the r1's.

however they got there, if you're on an r1 vs a c91/a6 you might as well leave the thing on the trailer haha

ps. speedventures is still using 100 as their cutoff for their revamped time attack series

Nice catch i just checked it out, 50+ Tread for Limited Class... That's pretty interesting I am just curious how it does at Global Time Attack in 2 weeks and who might be running it.

1. Cars must use DOT-approved treaded tires with a minimum UTQG-rating of 50 or higher. Equivalent tires from other markets (such as EU and Japan) are permitted.
