Moving the ACD pump in an IX?

Has anyone ever relocated the ACD pump on an IX? This summer I crashed my car, and the ACD pump was destroyed on impact. I'm thinking of either moving it inside the cockpit or to the trunk area, but I'm not too familiar with the ACD system itself. If the hydrolic lines are not the same length as factory will it make a difference to it's reaction speed?

Anyone toyed with this idea?

I ran my ACD pump in the trunk all season long. No problems at all.

I'll try to dig up some pics later.

the relocation really wasn't that tough. I pulled my harness apart and pulled the few wires back to the ACD Computer. that's not really necessary, you could simply find the wires and just splice in new ones right by the ACD-Computer/ACD relay.

This is actually a fairly common modification and I plan to do it this winter as well. I haven't actually moved forward with purchasing parts yet but I was considering using my now useless EVAP line from the back of the car to the front for the ACD line.

I used some brake line (forgot the exact size) with double fares on each end. maybe spent $20 total in parts.

Been prototyping some ACD maps for a local shop. So far I love the thing, I'm able to get on the gas so much earlier than before, from what I know the ACD is great for road racing, but I can't say I've driven an Evo on a track without one, just with different settings on the ACD ECU.

Yep all rally cars have to move the pump in the car. They running there with no problem at all.

Make sure you read specific rules about flammable fluids in the car.

Isn't it just hydrolic fluid? Ugh, while typing I decided to google that... Petroleum based products are highly flammable, but stuff like dot4/5 has an obsenely high flashpoint...

I moved mine to the trunk last winter to make room for better brake cooling.
Not a problem. Works as advertised.

I relocated my to the rear of my car, better weight transfer. I placed it on the exhaust sides and I have not had any issues so far.

Im planning on this and battery relocation this winter. Anyone have quick info on the fittings required to make new lines? If not I'm sure we can find it somewhere on the board, possibly in RTErnie's build thread?

5/16x14 fittings if i'm not mistaken... Its only 8ft from mist places to the banjo fitting for the tcase... But that will vary how you bend the line... I've used brake line and stainless steel braided ... They both hold the pressure well... I did a write up years ago when i half assed it... It was ghetto but it worked...

I even have taken a roll of 5/16 line cut the ends off the oem lines and put them on the new one...
