Wheel size for racing

I smashed my Evo 5 up racing earlier in the year and am back on factory rims, as I destroyed both left side wheels as well as all the suspension. I was running an unknown branded wheel which was 17x9, 15 offset and the wheels looked great and fitted perfect with the rear arches modified.

I really like the look of the XXR527 wheels, but they only come in 8.25" or 9.75". The 8.25" aren't the offset I like and seem abit narrow. The 9.75" offset is perfect and sits out exactly the same as my old rims, and there is enough clearance to run them on the inside too.

I have abit of life left in my current tyres, which are 235/40x17 and the 235's are cheaper then going 255's, so wouldn't mind sticking with the 235's if I can. I'm using Kumho V70A's.

What do you guys think of going to that wheel size with those tyres? Is the 9.75" rim with 235 tyres going to have any negative affect on performance?

Absolute negative on tire performance. 245 is the narrowest tire allowed on a 9.5" wheel, let alone a 9.75". Would not recommend running a stretched tire on the track

My track day set up is: Advan RGII 17x9 +30 on 255/40 NT01's

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully I can work something out.

I'm looking at:
1) Get the XXR527's in 8.25" and run the 235's
2) Find some 17x9's I like
3) Wait and wear out the 235's, then buy the XXR527 in 9.75" and some 255's
