I have a $180 cat back from ebay I bought back in 2011. the only thing I see that is 'wrong' about this is I'd be screwed if I lose the cap ... the size doesnt seem standard. my friend tried to out-ebay me and got a $149 unit and its crap - too long and missing a hanger

If you're just streeting it then 75w85 is fine. I would not go thinner. Redline or above quality.

I'm a bit confused. I'm told 2nd gear broke. But it broke while gently launching the car.

Stop launching the car in 2nd gear 🙄. My first gear broke once I transitioned from accelerating to coasting. It do be weird like that sometimes.

The wear on the input shaft first gear looks terrible. I hope you send that to TRE for a full and proper going through.

It takes 20 minutes to crack open an Evo trans with 3/8" impact. I sure hope they don't charge you much, especially if it wasn't approved. Seeing the wear on 1st gear and 2nd being broken, I'm sure your bill with TRE is gonna be bad enough without these other guys doing unauthorized work.

A little late to the party, but I installed a Tanabe downpipe and an Ultimate Racing HFC this past weekend. Even on the stock tune the car has a much more noticeable boost in the top end. Pretty amp'd to get the high flow fuel pump, 3 port BCS and MAP sensor on there to start tuning it

My 6 speed was built by TRE. I have been using 75w90 GL5 NS for a while now, moreso to do with the front diff than the trans. Before that, I used 75w85 from Redline.

Still going strong 9 years, hundreds of autocross and track days later. 2nd gear has been popping out lately but otherwise the transmission has been dead reliable. Of course, these things are, until they aren't.

re: the shift fork - is this all i need? and is it an easy replacement?

Bent shift fork is usually the culprit for popping out of gear but your best bet would be tearing it down to confirm it is bent. They're usually pretty easy to change out, but I've never worked on an Evo 6 speed.

In case any one is curious, the SX-E anti surge cover makes the EFR7163 WAY better! It was a compressor surge mess with the EFR cover and now no surge at all.
