Yeah I talked with them about splitters last week as I redesign mine for 2019. The general consensus is that the material doesn't really matter. The alumalite is preferred for time attack as it is lighter and getting weight off the front of the car on an Evo is always a good thing. The real key though is to make sure that it is properly supported so that it does not come off the car and get destroyed. That means if you want to use alumalite it is advisable to mount it to a nice frame structure and then the frame structure bolts to the car. The advantage of the 1/2" birch is that it is strong enough to mount directly to the car without building a frame structure. My current alumalite splitter uses 1/2" boxed aluminum tubing as a support frame.

Yea definitely make sure it's supported well enough lolol

If you support alumalite well enough you don't need to run a frame on it which saves weight. My last one didn't have any framing and had it been supported better in the front would still be on the car. The new one I'm making won't have any framing but it's mounted to the car at 8 points.

Also, I'm a bigger fan of rods than cables. With cables you're essentially hanging the weight of the splitter by the cables whereas with the rods you're setting splitter height with the rods.

Agreed. My current splitter has 4 adjustable rods that lets me adjust the splitter angle more so than the height though.

seems pointless to use alumalite then put a frame on it lol.

Why not just run some sort of honeycomb or fibreglass if ur worried about weight. mine probably weighs approx 3kg - 5kg

Cables with turnbuckles is the best, imo. I broke a lot of rods, but with cables the splitter can move upwards if you hit something (cone, curb, bottom out, etc).

It's the contra code if you're referring to the stickers of aarows. The dings and dents are probably a function of cone love

For real lol. Ya I'm such a nerd, went to an event in vegas this summer and got stuck in the LevalUp! bar on top of a casino playing contra till I got tired of entering the code lol. Contra's no joke. Neither are launches. So in our case I guess it'd be something like Clutch Clutch, Brake Brake, Left right left right, ACD, wiper, Ignition! And walla, brand new clutch and input shaft. Wouldn't that be awesome lol.

Fun fact, one of my best friends brothers has a youtube video of beating contra on one life.

I have a VHS tape of me beating Street Fighter II Turbo without losing a round. Perfect on almost every match.
I had that game memorized.
