i'm picking up the evo on tuesday - they have said everything has come together nicely, and pre-rolled the fender for me even before painting. 100 cell cat arrived 3-4 months later after i ordered it, so i've already got a mod waiting for it lol.

anything i should look over in detail when I pick up the car? I've got a list of things I'd like to check but want to see if I've missed anything.

The weight difference of powered to RS isnt significant in the doors of the 9. The main weight difference IIRC is the steel to aluminum crash bar which my car already has being a 9 SE.

Lol, well theres a lot at risk when your car is at the top. And a lot of prying eyes to whats done to the car. Even stalkers to the posts I make here from what I've heard. So I make sure to keep things on the up and up, just try to be a good and respectable competitor worth chasing all while meeting new people who are willing to share some trade secrets with me

I did find the post earlier today on how much RS doors save over what I have, its 0.5lbs per door. For the effort, there is still quite a bit more I can do that even Im not crazy enough to go thru that effort for 2lbs for all 4 doors.

Winter "project":

Rebuild head. Timing belt decided to change itself while I was driving. Still haven't pulled head but pulled turbo and can see bits of valve in two cylinders and also entering the exhaust manifold. Planning on sending head to Curt Brown. Planning on sending my intake manifold as well for 65mm port and sending throttle body to mil.spec for porting and new seals. If there's damage to any cylinders or pistons I'll likely be building a 2.4lr to swap in as well. Also need to fix my exhaust now since the rear hanger gave out while I was pulling my downpipe.

Favourite european rally cheat was running evo 7 shells with e9 bumpers and hood, and calling it evo 9.... Since e7 shell is lighter it was a popular "mod". It did cause a lot of cars to be thrown out LOL.

Really? how are evo 7 shells lighter. thats a new one to me, what is it that makes them lighter? i would have thought 8/9 shell would be lighter due to the roof.

Reminds me i should weigh my car haha

I know, it sounds stupid... I will look into it more... but I know of several cars running illegal evo 7 shells in national rally and being caught..

maybe the newer chassis had to deal with more crash test regulations, or something along those lines that resulted in more weight.

that's the only difference I'm aware of

what axles do you guys recommend for a 350hp car that sees autox and track days? the dss 900hp seems like Overkill, the only other option side from oem is their level 0 which seems like not enough

The level zero is fine.

Stock axles hold 900hp so I find it funny they offer an "upgrade" for 900hp...

gotcha that will save some cash then. unless the level 2 will save an extra replacement down the line? they do see launches and heat.. wonder if they'll have a level 1 if I contact them

I just sourced a full set of spare axles. Took a while and they're getting harder to find but they are pretty good.
