It honestly doesn't matter. On any amount of ethanol over 40% you'll have more than enough octane for your needs. The gains you'll see from moving to ethanol are from a better latent heat of vaporization, which means the fuel can cool the cylinders better between combustion events so oxygen density is able to increase slightly and you're able to create more power.

I haven't had one, single count of knock during track days. It's been great. The car definitely appreciates the reduced temps.

Ya, I cried a little when I had to switch back to 12 buck a gallon race gas.

We'd love to be discussing Austin's haltec purchase but he's proven why this place is dead and how much of a FB fan he is. :P

Haha the FB stuff is just for vanity. Nobody ever has technical discussions on my posts. And I posted about it in my build thread

But yea, I picked up a Haltech elite 1500. Will be running their wideband O2 for full time closed loop fueling and a rotary trim knob for boost on the fly control. Next step is to grab an Aim MXM dash which will replace my Defi gauges I had before, so that will display temps and pressures as well as have alarms and will give me datalogs with engine data and telemetry automatically time aligned. And in the future I can grab an Aim smarty cam and have all the data overlaid on video with having to do a ton of post processing work.

I can vouch for this as well. Being in South-FL / Miami with 1000% Humidity on 90F + days, I don't get a single count of knock. I recently got a flex-fuel setup and I'm loving it.

Heck yeah. My summer track days are over 100*. It's one of the main reasons I swapped to flex fuel. I figure to drop temps where it starts, which makes all other cooling measures just that much more effective.

yes you take e100 (99.9% pure ethanol denatured with 0.1% methanol so u cant use it to make alcohol and therefore dont have to pay tarrifs) And you add 15% pump fuel.

That is something you "can" do, but that is not how E85 is made by distributors. They mix ethanol with gasoline that has no additives. Or race fuel manufacturers mix it with race fuel.

Regardless. It doesn't really matter. For most people's purposes it all works well.

i was interested in flex fuel but it seems ASM prefers the dual map method. i've discussed and made clear with him that oftentimes it's going to be a minor mix in there - maybe a gallon or two of 93 left before pouring in e85, be that e65 or whatever. i think that will be fine.

how many of you guys are running the grimmspeed master cylinder brace? i had one that i took off because i didn't like how unevenly it made the strut tower brace sit

Why isn't English Racing timing the car? Aaron has a full handle on the flex fuel tuning.

And honestly, if a tuner can't do it, I'd be hesitant to use them.

Oooo, pretty. Ya I was looking at the MXS dash ecu plugins and that looks pretty plug and play. The danger of having a knob is the temptation to keep turning it to catch a car in front lol.

The ZL1 1LE has arrived!

Sadly, it is not mine. But my dad did say that I can be the official auto-x driver for it! He wants to do all the big track stuff in it.
