Weird. Haltech's own website has a separate category for the Evo 9 that only shows 2000/2500: https://www.haltech.com/product-cate...subishi/evo-9/

The Evo 8 section shows 1000/1500: https://www.haltech.com/product-cate...evo-4-5-6-7-8/

But then again they have a separate Evo 8MR section that only shows the 2000/2500, which doesn't make much sense: https://www.haltech.com/product-cate...bishi/evo-8mr/ (EDIT: Reading the fine print, looks like it's only for the JDM Evo 8 MR)

I glanced through the Haltech guides for their 8 and 9 kits. The 2500 kit for the Evo 9 uses the extra outputs for the check engine light, A/C control, and EVAP purge control.

On the Evo 8 pinout, it looks like the Check Engine Light is marked as non-functional when using a 1500 (?), the A/C control uses a digital out to go to a relay, and EVAP is non-functional with a 1500.

This was a quick read so I'm surely missing something. If I was getting a Haltech setup for my IX I'd just get the 2500 kit so I could use the plug-and-play setup with full functionality.

And I guess I dont understand why thats even necessary because the difference between the 1500 and 2500 on their comparison page is only about the drivers for 4 vs 8cyl and single or dual knock sensors. As far as I/O goes, the 2500 only has 1 extra which isnt a make or break considering we dont actually have that many sensors compared to some cars.

Emtron KV8 - Its becoming more and more popular and used wider in World TA over the MoTeC - Got to ask yourself the question why?
It appears it can do everything the M150 can without all the licensing (cost) restrictions.

Link and Emtron are out, primarily because I want to stick with what Aaron and some other local friends know if I need support.

Aaron actually has talked to me about Emtron. Maybe speak with him and consider it before ruling it out.

Emtron is very highly regarded by few tuners who do not spend time on forums, keep quiet and produce fantastic results, in UK and Australia.

Link is a decent solution and their customer support is fantastic but doing anything beyond engine control requires tons of DIY. They're not the easiest processor to set up.

They use the extra ignition drivers as high current outputs for things like A/C control and the check engine light.

After reviewing the pinout, I'm actually confused as to why they didn't simply include a few more generic high-current outputs that weren't injector drivers. Seems like it would have made integration much easier for a lot of functions.

If you're okay with DIY modifications you could use the low-current digital outputs with a relay. I don't see any reason why the 1500 wouldn't work on a IX if you're willing to DIY the connections. Frankly I'd rather spend the extra money to use all of the plug-and-play gear and preconfigured software with their 2500 kit.

It depends what you're using the car for. If you're building a racecar you don't need to worry about AC, evap, intercooler sprayer or MAF stuff so that frees up room to use for other stuff.

We use Emtron all the time (and I am a dealer for them). I consider them a step below Motec. They pretty much do everything the Motec does but you dont have to pay to unlock everything. They are trying to get me to ditch my AEM and go Emtron but for what I do, the AEM is just fine.
