I'd let map know, cause the fake on on the video with the thin wire and the black connector is exactly as MAP has it in their pics. However that bottom still doesn't add up without the "new design" compare it to.

No, but that's not a prerequisite of a legit Walbro pump. See attached.

EDIT: If you're wondering if this notice is a fake, it was disseminated by IRPerformance as being from Walbro.

has anyone ever had a titanium exhaust tig welded?

ticon pretty much has everything i need, but i've got no idea how much it would cost to weld it all together. the pipe to resonator to more pipe isn't an issue, but the bends required to get the back muffler straight could be a good amount of work

Okay, I put in a call to Ti Automotive in Michigan and they just returned my call. The pump is legit. They changed this part of the pump design about a year ago after a change in supplier for that part. Internally, they are the same. Phew. Glad to have some certainty on this.

Titanium is extremely reactive and needs very VERY good gas coverage. Back purge, side purge, updside down purge lol ALL THE PURGE. This stuff makes stainless look like mild steel. Your welder needs to be extremely familiar with welding titanium to not totally screw it up. Ideally you want to weld titanium in a sealed chamber that is completely filled with Argon, but that's not really practical and we aren't flying around in airplanes so you probably don't need to go to those lengths.

so extreme lol. is aluminum easier to work with?

Cool.

For Ti I just went with STM. They also source everything from Ticon, I can get it even cheaper from T14 if you get an answer on welding. I didn't have the time to worry about a local "exhaust shop" doing it right, bending it right, having all these leftover pie cuts, fitting right, etc etc. If it was a case where I was exiting out front or the sides somewhere then ya. Black friday is how it got it last year.

yea i dont think stm would be down for customizing their product, i'm sure their jigs and whatnot are specific to what they build.

i was looking at ticon's 6x9x12 oval for the rear, and their round 17" as a resonator/mid muffler. the problem is the rest of the welding to connect those parts though, the pie cuts & bends etc. that we'd have to figure out as we went. it was indicated to me that the welding would be more or less cost prohibitive.

alternatively though, aluminum does looks like it could be promising? just as light but not as strong obviously..
